Despite missing a dozen pre-reg'd players we still had a 46-man tournament - thanks to everybody who came out!
With attendance surpassing the required number by a mile (ok, 16) we were able to beef up the prize pool:
1st - Mox Jet 2nd - Mox Pearl 3rd & 4th - $100 5th to 8th - $30
Secondary Tournament prize - Mana Drain
Standings After Round Six: 1. Owen Leskovar (Zoo) 2. Nassim Ketita (Ichorid) 3. Kris Kavanagh (UB Control) 4. Ryan McCormick (Faeries) 5. Marty Birthelmer (Ichorid) 6. Kevin Roscoe (Dragon) 7. Mike Gouthro (Painter's Combo/CS) 8. Andrew Van Leeuwen (La Resistance)
Quarterfinals Owen Leskovar d. Andrew Van Leeuwen Marty Birthelmer d. Ryan McCormick Kris Kavanagh d. Kevin Roscoe Nassim Ketita d. Mike Gouthro
Semifinals Marty Birthelmer d. Owen Leskovar Kris Kavanagh d. Nassim Ketita
Finals Kris Kavanagh d. Marty Birthelmer
Congratulations to everybody who placed in the money, to Kris Kavanagh for winning yet another Untouchables Type 1 event, and to the Secondary Tournament winner Don Campbell!
Thanks again to judge Edwin and all the players who came out and hope to see you in March for our next Type 1 event!
I am just posting this here, so we can get the Canadian results into the TMD rankings.
To the Committee, I will gladly post all the upcoming tourneys in the Announcement section, I just need the account level change to do this, if not I am sure I can get Razvan to post the upcoming tourney's.

Are these sanctioned (no proxy) tournies? The top 8 meta looks strange. But we like lists anyways!

These are 10 proxy events. Our top 8 never looks like an American top 8 .

Thanks Soly for the offer to post the future events, and I did notice Cappy is a full member, so AI can have him post it for us.
And yes, the Ontario Metagame is a strange brew, there was like 5 ichy at the tourney, plus your standard drain, fish, combo and prison decks. I ended up taking down the side tourney with 4C Tezz, beating out a pair of goblins, ichy, stax and a drain tendrils varient in the process. I dunno if the rankings will calculate a side tourney , as it was essentially single elimination, I played 5 rounds to earn the win.

Thanks for posting the results and for participating in the Rankings!
Side events would count under the same guidelines as main events, so if there were 17+ players and it followed all the announcement, running, and reporting guidelines as usual, it should qualify.

Well it had 18 people in it, though it was run single elimination, not swiss rounds, and it was not "not announced" so I dunno thought I would just ask anyways.

In this case the side event would not qualify, but if future events are run as Swiss rounds and reach the 17+ player limit, they should be able to count toward the rankings. You can include the announcement for any side events with the main event post to make things easier. If you have any further questions about the Rankings, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your contribution to the community!

Okay thanks Dan for the quick answer, I don't really care either way, just wanted clarification, as the choice to run a side is a last minute pre tourney decision and is always single elm not Swiss, I will just keep it to the top 8 of the main tourney going forward.

The side events don't count to anything it's just our amazing TO at Untouchables making the day fun for people who scrub out of the main event. They are run for a Mana drain usually and are free entry to any one who played in the main event.

Thank you for your contribution to the community! I am not sure it's worth making the side events like that. They are more of a fun little run for those that do poorly early on to not be bored all day waiting for their friends to finish... since this is Canada, and the neighborhood extends for a thousand miles . There's generally always a side event, and the prize is anywhere from a Mana Drain to a Grim Tutor, free to enter if you play in the main event, or $5 if you don't. Btw, Dan, will you ever grace us with your presence? Certain yanks already are making the trip somewhat regularly.

Understood on the side events. We're certainly not discouraging more casual events. I just wanted to clarify that side events are not precluded from counting toward Rankings if they follow the same guidelines.
I'm not sure about my travel schedule for these events, but I'll have to see if we can carpool up with some of the other Yanks who are heading up to the frozen north later this year.
