Congratulations to Brassman for coming in 2nd at the largest Grand Prix in U.S. history. We all know you were going to use this event in an attempt to show us how bad you are at Magic, but your plan failed miserably. I'm sure your stomach thanks you.

Rich Shay also finished in 12th and continues his run of being awesome.

Seriously, congratulations.  Way to get all the way to Nassif.  And nice job, Rich.

Grats to all TMD'ers that participated at the GP.  I've been following all of you on WotC's website.  I think it's terrific that the largest Grand Prix in American history was in the midwest for an eternal format.

Congrats to Brassman, TK, LSV, The Atog Lord and All the other TMD'ers that did so well in this huge event.

Also props to Brian Kowal for my personal choice for best deck in the top 8.  Next time I hope he remembers those Bob triggers.

Here are the final standings for the tournament if you want to look through them:

Let's not forget Jimmy McCarthy, who crushed dreams and sandwiches to an 18th place finish.  Congrats!  Seriously.

I had the same record as Rich and LSV at the end.  Tiebreakers are lame.

Also, Brassman's success can be attributed 100% to his decision to run 4 Brainstorm and 3 Ponder rather than the other way around.

I thought I would also mention David Caplan in the top 8 to those who did not notice, as he is another TMD'er.  Congrats to him as well.

Suck it standard!!!!

Anyways I was not a fan of 3 bs/4 ponder either :p.  I wanted to play and was only a few hours south, but stupid last minute schoolwork really sucked and I did not end up making it.  I'll regret this one for awhile.

GP Columbus also set the record for largest NA GP at the time, until Indy eclipsed it.  For some reason, there is demand for Legacy tournaments.

Nassif may have edged out Brassman in the finals, but I have total confidence that he can't sing a better cover of Skee-Lo's "I Wish".

This was actually fun.   I picked up the deck for the tournament 10 minutes before hand, and literally played my first game EVER in round 1 with it (TK's list).   I started the event 7-0 with NO byes.  Unfortunately, It didn't end well for me though.

Congrats Shay, Brassman, McCarthy, TK and all the others I am forgetting. You guys did great!

Brassman had some serious misfortune in the finals although I think he should have used his KroGrip in resp to the Confidant flip as it was quite obvious Nassif kept his own KroGrip on top to protect Counterbalance. I don't know if it would have changed anything though.

Props to Duncan as well for going 7-1-1 on day 1 and then a first round win on day 2 before dropping 3 matches Sad. I was rooting for you buddy! Though he did won a Grim Tutor in the Vintage event with my decklist so all was well.

EDIT: Impressive Soly, ANT seems like a hard deck to pilot through all the Counterbalances, although I'm sure your Vintage combo experience must have helped.

Congrats!!! Brassy you're an absolute tank.   This means PT invites for both Andy and Rich, right?

And how great is it to see that our best players are every bit as good as the standard pros!  (not that we didn't know that, but it's nice to remind Wizards)

Oh and a less happy comment:  1200 attendees.  Doesn't this just go to show what that poll did months back, that the real base of magic players are playing the Eternal formats?  But, that Wizards runs tournaments around the booster-selling formats despite our preferences?  Don't get me wrong, a company has got to make money.  I should think though that Wizards would be creative enough to find a way to profit off Eternal directly.

Congratulations, you guys!

Also, good job, top 8'ers, for getting Vintage some street cred'
by mentioning high finishes in Vintage events as your main prior Magic accomplishments.

It could, but doesn't necessarily, mean that. It could well be the case that there's 750 players who will go to a GP of any format, and 450 who will only go to Legacy.

Hey now, I bet most of those 450 would go to vintage too if they could beg/borrow/steal some power.

Fine, replace 'legacy' with 'eternal.' It doesn't change the argument.

I haven't paid any attention to the Vintage scene, or Magic in general really, for a long time so to come back and find that Brassy and Rich waded through a 1200 man GP speaks volumes to how good these guys really are.  Congratulations to all Vintage guys that made a great showing at the GP, you earned it.

Do a bit of drafting on occasion, but nothing serious, and probably not going to be getting back into Vintage at all, just have no time.  I was really just bored at work today and looking for stuff to read, haha.

You might surprised at what Gabe is capabale of...  I hooped with him a couple of times last summer, and did not expect him to be able make it rain from 25 feet!

Congratulations, to everybody who did well and good luck at the PT to everyone who is going.

I continued my streak of putting up a solid day one performance and then completely disintigrating on day two.

So far this year I am 0-8 on day two of GPs...  @_@  and, 14-4 on day ones.  Consistency is the key.
