Hey all,

I was wondering what the interest would be in a nother Vintage tourney in San Antonio. Genesis Games (with myself promoting) has run 3 successful tournaments thus far, with a mox for prize each time. I have been getting inquiries as to the next date since our last one was in early November. Now that colleges/schools are soon letting out, I was wondering if their is any interest in me organizing another tourney and what date would be acceptable (late June thru July dates).

If we get 15+ to play ($20 entry), we can guarantee a mox. With 30+, we can guarantee a lotus or a mox with prize for 2-4 place (drain, library, dual, etc.) If we lower the entry fee to 15-10, we would need double the entries to guarantee the same prizes, so I think $20 is reasonable. We plan on 10 proxy, but we are open to suggestions (i.e. 10 free + $1 for each additional, $10 extra for unlimited proxy, etc.). I would love to get this running and announced soon, so please write suggestions to this thread. Thanks.

-Eric

P.S.  Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.  Please move it to where it needs to be if it is.  Thanks.

San Antone is a little out of the way, but I had fun the last 2 times I went.  For me it pretty much depends on if I can get my buddies to go, it's hard to justify a trip to play cards alone.

I would absolutely attend, as I am currently stationed in San Angelo for the summer, where paper Magic is just about dead.

I've already responded in the affirmative twice.  But yes!  I'm in Dallas so anyone in that area interested in going and carpooling send me a PM.

Can I get a potential headcount for this to show my local shop?  I have had very little luck on TXGamers.com.  Hopefully the numbers will be better here.

Is there no one else from TX on these forums?  It is really hard to start a vintage scene in the South when no one supports it.  The discussion about Steve's proxy article is valid, but no one is talking about this aspect.  Everyone is concerned that vintage attendance is declining, but when a small group of dedicated players is trying to start a vintage scene in an area, there is often little support from the community.  We can't do the BOM thing and offer multiple sets of P9 because no matter how much we advertise people from other parts of the country won't come and the TO/store will just lose thousands of dollars.  So the point of this is: If there is anyone else from TX, or a surrounding state that is close enough from which to travel to San Antonio, please support this fledgling (dare I say dying) attempt at a vintage community by letting TheWhiteDragon know you'll at least attempt to support future vintage events in Texas.

If I were to visit San Antonio for a weekend, where would I go to find Vintage players?

I'll be in college station in the fall. Depending on how busy I am at graduate school, I <3 vintage.

TWD, I know the organization of the forums isn't a novel concept for you.  Please post your threads in the appropriate subforums in the future.
