Heya,

Just so we don't get other threads off topic, I'm making this thread to discuss the June 2009 B/R List changes- if any should happen.  According to this article on Magicthegathering.com, http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/15a, the announcement will not be made until June 20.  So until then, I imagine this thread will be rather lifeles.

Anyway, here's to the changes that might yet come!  Wink

Peace,

Troy

I had the 20th in mind as to announcements, but had no luck looking at www.magicthegathering.com to find that fact as current. (I may just suck at navigating websites.)

QFT. My gut reaction is that they just tried to hit Tez and this was the best way they could do it. (Note I said "best" way, not a "good" way). I guess Drain was the obvious alternative, besides banning or errata (which have been discussed ad nauseam).

And Crop Rotation. I just don't know about this. This seems really dangerous. I feel like there were other choices that could have been made.

That being said, some changes are welcome, though I'm not so sure about possibly just wrecking the metagame for Gencon. I feel like maybe they should have waited three more months for Crop Rotation. I guess we'll see.

Maybe it's time to ask who personally is making these decisions.

Not what I expected, but:

Vintage
Thirst for Knowledge is restricted

Crop Rotation is no longer restricted
Enlightened Tutor is no longer restricted
Entomb is no longer restricted
Grim Monolith is no longer restricted

Interesting...

Okay, didn't see that one comming.....Well, what to do now? i really dislike the meditate/remora draw-engine.....Maybe intu/AK i just hope that it won't be the "standard" draw-engine...AK mirrors is so the suck. Maybe we should just go keeper style and include everything that's semi-usefull from the restrict list.

Very interesting.

I never cast Thirst for Knowledge, so I don't care on a visceral level, but why did it have to go? It seems to me that the DCI can't just unrestrict cards and let things shake out, they have to restrict something else, or else they aren't doing their job. Logic would suggest that, in the new metagame created by unrestricting 4 cards, Tez may not be the best deck anymore, making this move pointless and counter-productive, at least until we see how the metagame develops. But maybe these unrestrictions are so safe that they will have no noticeable impact on the metagame.

Either way I'm glad to have a net decrease in the size of the B/R list.
