(2) Jimmy McCarthy (MeanDeck Tezzeret) 1 Jace Beleren Jimmy, thank you so much for rocking this. Jerry asked me for a singleton suggestion in Tezzeret at the hotel after Regionals. Still in Standard mode, I said Jace Beleren. How was it? Congratulations to all the T8 and kudos to Ben for running what looks like an amazing event with a stellar turnout.

Obviously, I have a mental Hard-on Top8ing with Sphinx, and seeing other people do it as well. I believe I convinced 4 others (Mr. DeMars played it as well) to plphinx. Tim told me after Rich spoiled the tech that he almost thought about it, and decided against it last minute. The other Tezz deck played by Derrek had DSC. So 2 Sphinx, 1 DSC, 1 Inkwell.
As for the Tezzeret decks, I mean yeah 4 of them top8ed, but Jimmy, Derrek and I have all been playing Tezz forever (if you don't know derrek, I've had to play against him in like every tournament I've top8ed in the last year. He's pretty solid).

(1) Jeff Rabowsky [ICBM] (BUG fish)
sb - 3 Sower of Temptation
Jeff: What are your toughts on Sower of Temptation vs Threads of Disloyalty? vs Fish and Beats Threads seems better but vs Tinkertargets and Oath Sower seems better. Was this a metagamechoice or do you prefer Sower? Soly: In your deck for Day 2 you have 1 Sower and 1 Threads sideboarded. One for fish/beats and one for tinker/oath? Or? Thanks

Congrats to all who Top8d. My first vintage event was a blast, and I hope to see you guys at a bunch more.
I was surprised to see so many Shop decks at this event. I thought there would be some more variety of Archetypes. I saw Oath, Tezz, Fish, Shop and Combo. Maybe next event will be different.

Round 3 is in progress.
I beat Jimmy McCarthy, so I'm 3-0 and he's 2-1. Steve pulled a dick and wouldn't answer any questions on his game. TK is 2-1 Vroman and Jerry Yang are 2-0, playing each other. Dan Carp went 0-2 Brian Fisher is 2-1 Demars is 0-2 not sure about Mastriano or Owen.

I'm 3-1. apparently, you can't beat a guy who makes 6 playmistakes a game, when He has turn 1 fow, turn 2 drain + fow, and then I don't draw mana to cast desire. Frowntowns.

The meta game today is still loaded with a lot of shop decks, and tezzeret. There are quite a few aggro varients that are doing extremely well. Including donavon piloting a G/W aggro deck which is 5-0. Overall I would say the amount of shop decks and aggro decks are much higher, and slightly less tezzeret decks.

Steve Golenda (Pierce) and I just drew in. Jerry Yang is in, as is Jake Kempfer, Owen Turtenwald, Jason Jaco, and other people I can't recall.
I still don't know what Jaco's on. Jerry is on GWS BR-Stax. I'm on GWSx. Kemper is Painter. Owen is Tezzeret. Pierce is FAERIES. Yes JP and Carl, go crazy...

I just lost to my teammate John Donovan. He's playing GW Aggro (Smemmycakes build). We have a 50/50 cash value split, and he's guarenteed at least a Sapphire. I get either emerald or pearl. pierce beat the ad naseum deck 2-0. Jerry Yang just beat Jake Kempfer and Jaco is playing Owen.

I really like the play by play action. It seems that the metagame has shifted to more fish/aggro from the first day. Thanx and good job on the back to back t8.

day 1 had a shit ton of fish but day 2 seemed to have far less fish and more shop/stax then day 1 from what i saw pretty diverse metagame and i dontcare what anyone says about vintage things besides tezz and blue draw power houses can and will be winning.

I was the ant in t8. I sucked today and my deck/luck carried me. My loss in swiss was an awful and flip from being x-0-2 despite playing like I've never touched the format. Gratz to the rest of the t8 and thanks to ben and extreme games for putting this on. Btw, pierce's deck was so brutal. Duress, thoughtseize, sculler, spellstutter sprite, vclique, canonist, and null rod...
I hope I can make it to some more of these.

I played against 6 workshop decks in 8 actual rounds on Saturday plus one Tezz mirror with a teammate and one match against BUG Fish. I lost a total of 4 games, one each time I played against my T8 opponent with Mono Red Shops (we played in the swiss) and then 2 to Jeff. So if you want my opinion on my marginal cards, I have no good answer except Sphinx was trash and would have been better as DSC basically every time (or even as Inkwell and that guy sucks bad). I cast Jace one time and sided him out about every round (I cast Scrying zero times and sided it out every round too) so maybe it is good but who knows. I do know that Ingot Chewer is basically the best card in vintage.
Day 2 I wanted to mess around and eventually convinced Nam Tran to let me play his copy of Twaunstax. I then beat Twaun in the mirror and Nam who was playing the MUD deck Trogdon built for me. I also lost a match to a pyrokinesis. Not playing FOW sucks.
Oh and one last thing I noticed. The team breakdown day 1 was 1 Meandeck, 2 ICBM, 2 GWS, and 3 Team Serious (4 if seroogy counts). The team breakdown day 2 was the same as well. Go Ohio magic.

Some quick comments from me: 1 Thanks everyone for the congrats on the Double Top8. I really wanted to do it and at multiple points I played Atrociously bad, and still managed to pull of games (more on that later) 2 Null Rod is the most annoying card in the format. 3 Dark Confidant is fucking nuts 4 thank you Seroogy for convincing me to play something real @ breakfast, instead of the Meloku deck. 5 I won a Sapphire and a Pearl. Because of this, I now am being forced to go to Pittsburg. 6 I hope the people who just met me realize that although I can be a bit harsh, I'm a really laid back guy. 7 Oh and one last thing I noticed. The team breakdown day 1 was 1 Meandeck, 2 ICBM, 2 GWS, and 3 Team Serious (4 if seroogy counts). The team breakdown day 2 was the same as well. Go Ohio magic.
I may be team serious, but I was adopted. Go Milwaukee Magic.
