I made the swiss gambit losing to mono brown stax (Or maybe more MUD) in round 1 before winning out to 4-1-1 into the top 8, other opponents were.

Landstill
Ichorid
5 colour Stax
Confidant Tezzert
Oath (the ID)

I then beat stax in the quarters in a very close 3 games, and lost to stax in the semi finals.

My friend played ichorid and lost to stax in the quaters (the same guy who beat me in the semi.)

Bad things:

The prizes being so top heavy, from the vault dragons for losing in the semi's seems a little meh. <__<

My semi's opponents friends all laughing at me for calling the judge in game 3 saying "He just knows he's losing."  O_o so because I'm behind I should let him cheat??

How did the one of everything package work for you? Was there anything you wish was not in your deck? Was there something you wish you had more of in your deck (outside of your maxed out cards and the restricted stuff)?

There really is no pleasing some people... hopefully I'm not the only one that thinks its funny that my personal list of my personal favorites is getting criticized as "wrong".

Stax player played a land (gemstone mine/city of brass) some spells (moxes manavault) then proceeded to play strip mine, opponent without a moments hesatation raised his hand called judge and proceeded to try making a serious issue of what everyone else saw as a nervous mistake. Judge dismissed it for what it was a simple correctable error which never had a chance of affecting the gamestate i think he issued a warning the correct penalty for this type of incident.

Congrats on your finish Rob - thoroughly gutted I missed both the Reading tournament and Nationals through being on holiday.. we'll have to hook up for a game soon.

The prize structure looked thoroughly shoddy. Hope Mark Tedin being there made up for things!

Thanks for your replies everyone!

First,  I admit that I may have been a little stern in calling the judge and my conversation with him, and whilst it was the end of a long day I realise that is no excuse. So I apologise, it must have come across as really out of order.

However, I'm not sure it's true to say that playing additional land in one turn has 'zero chance to effect the game state.'   O_o How do you mean?

With regards to the deck:

Well, Sower was awesome for me all day, but in a couple of matches (Ichorid and landstill) I sided the MD one out, so I'm not sure if there should be 2 main or not.

I ran the whole 1 ofs thing just as a joke really, it's kind of worrying that it seems to work so well! haha.

I'm yet to try Dark confident and spell snare, so I imagine that next time I'll be trying something like that out Smile

Engineered explosives is very solid! At the local tournament a couple of months ago I pronouced it my MVP, and whilst for this event it wasn't as good as that it's still something I wouldn't want to cut.

I did get my drains and things signed by Mark Tedin, and chatted to him about the mana drain art for a while, he was a really nice guy! : )

Sensei's top never felt *brilliant* to me, it's always fine, and as it can replace itself (partically with a fetch or tutor) it's never horrible, but maybe I'm missing something with it.

Thanks everyone : )
