With Vintage Worlds being this weekend, I'm curious as to who your picks are for top 8?

Keep in mind Steve and Rich will not be there.

I definitely like Mastriano, Soly, and Nick Detwiler in the T8; all have been running hot all summer.

TK is do to be a world champ, plus he's the best vintage player in the world, so my money is on him.  I will lose to him in the finals.

I think that Demars is due, personally.

TK will not top 8.

With any luck, Mastriano will go back to back.  Then, immediately afterwards he will somehow find 2 incredibly hot asian broads amidst the sea of nerds.  Then, he will proceed to have a 3 way with them.

I was recently informed that Nick Detwiler will not be attending either.

Hmm.  I could probably be convinced to pick Jerry Yang over Fisher as he has been a monster lately, and no offense to Dan but I don't think I can really put him in there so I'll take James King over that pick as well.  Otherwise, that's like every good player I know of who will even be attending with Steve and Rich (and now red-hot Nick Detwiler) all missing.  I expect to get my finals rematch with Paul and it will go a little better this time.

Unfortunately, I can't make it. I'm going to be setting up my new apartment and attending new student orientation at Carnegie Mellon. And, rather than predict a winner, I'm going to wish good luck to all who can attend, and hope that Vintage Worlds shows excellence is sportsmanship and competition.

brett piazza. you might know him from his 3 gp/nats t8s this year, but he very quietly came in 9th on tiebreaks at last years vintage worlds.
brian demars. because no one knows what he's playing.
jerry yang. I count 4 t8s in a row, plus I know he plays very tightly.
soly. immagine the ego if he wins? it'd implode TMD
one lucky ass scrub. Every t8's got one!
Gerry Thompson, if he attends.
LSV, if he attends.
Jimmy McCarthy. The guy's unreal good.

Yeah, no TK in my t8. He's been too focused on too many other formats this year. No Owen, unless he ditches that tezzless tezz list. No Mastriano, unless he ditches tezz too (no t8 since thirst getting restricted).

Thems the breaks. I think LSV will win the whole thing if he goes. Since I suspect he won't, then look for the vintage clock to be put on yangtime.

Last minute nonsense means that I won't be there.

My picks:

TK
Paul
Jimmy
Soly
Brian DeMars
Gerry Thompson

And another 2 I won't name now.  You know who you are.

I'd like to see TK or Paul take it down.  Or anyone else, running 0 Mana Drains and 0 Force of Wills.

Bob Tendrils is probably what I'd play if I could go Neutral  Champs like me don't need FoW or Drain.

Also, my prediction for top 8:
Not Jay Webb.

I initially read that as "Not Jim Webb" and wondered when my Senator had picked up Vintage.

TK - This guy is just too good
Soly - will make top 8 and punt in the finals ;p
Brett Piazza - We know he'll be playing ichorid and if he can battle through the hate He'll be in the top 4
Muthafuckin Yangtime will be up in da hizzy!
Paul Sculptini Mastriano - He is defending his title of "The Champ"
LHC - Proly the most solid mtg player I have seen
Mark "Snoop Trogg" Trogdon - If he isn't fatigued by the last few rounds I think he has a shot.
Brian Demars - He is one of Vintages strongest players.

I'll be out of state in Washington and Oregon climbing some mountains, so I'll go with this top 8:
Dan Carp
Tommy Kolowith
Owen
Jimmy McCarthy
Patrick Chapin
Anthony Michaels
2 others I don't know

I've got TK winning the whole thing. I predict success for Wisconsin and pain for Ohio, unfortunately.

As for me, I predict the entire top 8 will be filled out with members of the starting lineup of the Kansas City Royals.  They clearly aren't playing baseball during their practice sessions, so Vintage Magic is as good a guess as any.

This made me laugh.  As did the Jim Webb bit.  But this was funnier.
