i was starting to look into licids for fun and i was wondering what happens when the creature it enchants dies? does the licid become a creature again as it has nothing to enchant anymore? Or must its ending effect be paid to save it from the yard?

Dominating Licid

Oracle text: 1UU, Tap: Dominating Licid loses this ability and becomes an Aura enchantment with enchant creature. Attach it to target creature. You may pay U to end this effect.
You control enchanted creature.

also could u explain all the phases that the licids go through as they go from creature to enchant creature? I feel its similar to the changes a mishra factory goes through when activated.

If the creature the Licid is attached to is gone and the Licid is still an echantment, the Licid will be put into the graveyard by state based actions.
If you would like to keep your Licid, then you'll have to end its effect before it's attached target is removed from the battlefield.

I do not understand you second question because when we talk about phases we talk about turnstructure, not the phases of a permanent.
At one point it is a creature, at the next an enchantment.

Big difference with the manlands is that the manlands have the "It is still a land" addition. The Licids however are no longer creatures after activating their ability. They become an Enchantment and stop being a Creature.
