VGXPO:America's Video Game Expo is an annual event, and one of the largest events held in the country each year with attendance of over 20,000 for the weekend. There is an insane amount of other events going on at this convention, definately worth attending AND to come and play some Magic as well!!

Saturday, 10/10/2009 at 1:00 PM - CANCELLED!!

Wow events every weekend just about Mike, keep it up.  Might be able to make it but as you know it conflicts with the SCG 5k which is in the same building but earlier.  How much is it to get into the Con itself?

If you use the discount word MAGIC when buying a ticket online or a coupon at the door its $15. I'll have coupons on Saturday at AU or giving them out at SCG.

So 35 dollars for a chance at a mox and really no time to even enjoy the con (assuming it's decent), I am going to pass on all of these

Actually $30 since everyone who plays in the event will also get $5 off our December AU event. We're not starting until 1pm, the con starts at 11am. acouple of hours to bounce around the hall (preprinting deck lists saves time!!LOL)

Guess I'll try, but won't make any guarantees.  Maybe I'll hit up the SCG 5k for like 3 hours then head here for T1.  Sounds good if I can even go.

It's not worth $35 to you to have fun all day at a Vintage tournament and maybe check out a video game con for a little bit? Because if you're saying that $35 is too high for you to think you're +EV in the tournament, that's really stupid. There's no such thing as a Vintage tournament that's +EV once you consider entry fees  & opportunity costs.

Its very likely that I'll be there.  I haven't played Standard since May.  Apparently there's some "Baneslayer Angel" card that is kicking ass?

I'd just counter it with Force of Will.

Silly, silly Standard...  Very Happy

So as to keep the peace with SCG, I have decided to  {1} {U} {U} Cancel the event. Sorry for the short notice. See you all in December at AU.

While this may be good for your relationship for SCG, this is really bad for your relationship with your players. Anyone who took the day off or cancelled other plans to come play is going to pissed.

I understand, it was going to be a lose lose situation for me. I just wish SCG would have talked to me sooner. They said they didn't see the event until today.

Did you attempt to talk to them about the event first before planning it? I know you planned your events around their schedule and the cons schedule, but its still better to talk to other coordinators first so it doesn't look like your trying to steal their crowd.

Also, when are you posting last weekends top 8?

It looks unprofessional on your part to plan an event without talking to someone else on their event. An event can either fail or flourish based on a relationship like this. This might not be starcity's area, but its still their weekend. Where Mike planned this event barely 3 weeks ago.
