My wife was looking through Gatherer for a general and found the flying hippo. It was love at first sight. She really likes how political the card is and, well, its a flying hippo.

We sat down the other day and came up with some ideas. She's interested in making a deck that primarily helps everyone at the table. Giving the other players cards, tokens, randomly saving people's dudes. Generally foiling the best laid plans and making friends left and right.

On top of this, we were talking about ways to make all this help eventually turn into a big fat W. One thing she brought up was Bronze Bombshell + Hippo/ Varchild Warrider tokens + Mirrorweave. I'm a pretty huge fan of that because it can come out of absolutely nowhere and surprise the table when Phelddagrif slaughters 3 people.

So, we're having a really easy time coming up with great cards that make everyone happy. The real problem is coming up with ridiculous ways to make a win out of it. All we've thought of is Brand and the Bombshell combo. Anyone have any ideas?

From what I've heard, the m10 rules broke even the Brand combo, unfortunately.

Not that that means much for EDH, since Brand is red and pheldagriff isn't...

You could Legerdemain the pheldagriff and another guy, and in response bounce the pheldagriff? Would that work?

Defense of the Heart would be fine given that you're able to give away guys. As would Oath of Druids.

Also, Equilibrium + pheldagriff = 6 mana to bounce a guy. Not sure how that's better than Capsize though.

Whoops! Thought the hippo was 5 colors. Thanks for pointing that out.

Matt- That video is really, really, helpful. Thanks!

In regards to the M10 rules update: Would the Bronze Bombshell + Hippo Tokens + Mirrorweave still work?

I guess that wouldn't work either, since they now "own" the tokens.

You could steal the tokens with Old Man of the Sea, Seasinger, etc. and then sacrifice them maybe?

Not quite as awesome as the Bombshell idea, sadly.

Thanks for all the help, guys. It looks like the deck is probably just going to stick to making everyone happy.

You need Oblation or you need to find a new general.

You could stick in Drop of Honey and Porphyry Nodes and use the pheldagriff to make sure they never go away.

For the tokens, I would go with Leyline of Singularity (Karakas works well with the leyline), give them tokens then phase their threats with Equipoise, fun card Lost Order of Jarkeld, maybe An-Havva Inn, Portcullis is good, Soul Warden/Essence Warden/Auriok Champion. For life gain all i could find in color was Kavu Predator. For drawing you could try Possessed Portal, Shared Fate, Uba Mask, Zur's Weirding, Psychic Possession, Storm Seeker, Plagiarize.

Imperial Armor or any Maro type of effect works with the blue ability.

Alpha Status + Imagecrafter works with the green ability.

Kavu Predator works with the white ability.

Soul Warden, Essence Warden, and Congregate + Felidar Sovereign or Test of Endurance work with the green ability.

Bloom Tender + Freed from the Real or any infinite mana combo makes Phelddagrif fatal.

Also, Pulse of the Fields, Pulse of the Tangle, and Pulse of the Grid are decent with Phelddagrif.

Karakas is banned.

Dingus Staff punishes players for having tokens and the tokens dying.

plagiarize would be fun.  I really think the EDH rules committee or whatever need to allow Questing Phelddagrif to be a general, though he is not a legend.
