It should be noted that this will be a Saturday (as opposed to the area's usual Sunday gigs), and Jeff (Who's on 1st owner), you should update the TMD calendar by hitting the link to calender button at the bottom of your post.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. I reckon if you postponed it by a week you might get a better turnout.

Again, good luck with the tourney.  I'll be playing hard-core casual with my Brother In Law in Utah.

I've had my ass handed to me by Borybornos many a time.   This time, EDH decks will clash, and one of my two EDH decks has SLIVER OVERLORD as it's general.

Damn. I was in Dublin Saturday but didn't know about this event. How is it that I get TMD emails about events in Kentucky but not my home town? Sad

As an aside, I notice Superstars doesn't event bother posting on the drain anymore. I wish there was a consolidated listing of west coast events. I can't keep track. Web/Jeff/LSV -- you can't win my entry fee for events I don't know about.

I don't get TMD emails about anything!

Who's on 1st, Eudemonia and Superstars don't make their living off Vintage Metagames, but support it based on respect and the efforts of local vintage personalities.  That's why I promote the Norcal scene as much as I can even tho I'm a nobody in Norcal, far away from actual stores/tourney sites.

To be fair, this tourney was anounced well over a month ago, and you could have done at least a weekly check.  Jeff at who's on first last ran a tourney almost two years ago (1st: Austin. 2nd: Junior Smile, and it was unfortunate that Jeff (Who's on first owner) chose to make the return 3 days after thanksgiving.)

Here is the last report from 2 years ago.  Quite a different metagame with 4 brainstorms, 4 ponders, 4 gush etc in the meta! Smile

Yea, I could have. Been crazy busy lately, and it didn't occur to me that anything other than Eudo and Superstars (both of which I knew about for the immediate future) was holding local tourneys.

Who's on 1st, Eudemonia and Superstars don't make their living off Vintage Metagames, ich doesn't formally post its tourney times here) were running tourneys in the area.

That's why I directed my post at Web/LSV/Jeff. They stand to gain the most by my attendance Wink

I'll do my best to PM you on non-Eudeo/Superstars tournies in the future.  Web PM'd me the Superstars mox tournies until I got the hint that they were kinda regular.  There's only so many people in our meta that post here/have TMD names etc.

I won in the finals versus goblins. I played a recent Vroman Oath list with Piracy Charm in it; a card which I came to love. I killed 2 dark confidants and 1 goblin lackey with it.

Mini-report:
Round 1: Bye.

Round 2: David Ochoa with tezz
Game 1: I get smashed by turn 1 tinker with force backup.
Game 2: I keep a hand I should definitely not have kept and lose a relatively close one as I have Iona in hand and not enough mana to protect a suicide oath-yawg will.

Round 3: Guy whose name I forget with tezz
Game 1: I get early vault-key.
Game 2: I resolve ancestral, counter a few spells, reclaim ancestral, and win eventually.

Round 4: Stan Gin with THE DECK
Game 1: Win with early vault-key.
Game 2: We counter a few spells, but I don't have anything for a long, long time, and he beats me down to 6 with 2 bobs and sower of temptation in hand before I oath out Akroma and attack him to 1. Then one of his bobs hits and kills him.

Semifinals: Stan Gin with THE DECK
Game 1: See game 2 of round 3.
Game 2: Don't remember this one.

Finals: Nelson with goblins
Game 1: I play turn 2 oath and assemble turn 3 vault/key.
Game 2: I turn 1 tutor for oath, turn 2 play it, he jester's caps 3 of my beaters leaving Karrthus and Empyrial Archangel, I beat him down with Karrthus and he loses the race.

It was a lot of fun, and I plan on attending any future whosonfirst events, partially since whosonfirst is like 20min closer than San Jose from berkeley.

I think turnout will be better down the road, as the word is "out" a little better, and also future events won't be on thanksgiving weekend.
