Well Today I went 5-1 in a 95 man Legacy Tournament. And here is my exclusive report.

First of all. The decklist:

Deck Name: Wanderlei Silva Sligh
4 Goblin Guide (Craziest and Fastest guy in the MTG world)
4 Wild Nactl (The p4p most hard hitting guy in the MTG world)
4 Tarmogoyf (Legacy's Fedor Emelianenko)
3 Figure of Destiny(The 2nd best midgame/lategame drop and 3rd p4p hardhitting guy in the MTG world)
2 Grim Lavamancer(The best midgame/lategame drop that lets you seal/steal victories)
3 Quasali Pridemage(the most versatile guy in the Legacy world)

4 Lightning Bolt (Punches)
4 Chain Lightning (Wild Punches)
4 Magma Jet (Low Kicks)
3 Fireblast (Foot Stomps)
3 Rift Bolt (Soccer Kicks)
3 Price of Progress (Knees)

4 Wooded Foothills
2 Arid Mesa
2 Scalding Tarn
2 Windswept Heath
3 Mountain
1 Forest
3 Taiga
2 Plateau

S/B
4 Rolling Earthquake
4 Pithing Needle
4 Vexing Shusher
3 Krosan Grip

Round 1 Ayuma Katsuki with Monoblack Control/Dark Depths.dec
Game 1
I win the die roll and play first. My opening hand is 2x Chain, 1 Lightning Bolt 2x Jet 1 Fireblast and 1 Mountain. He mulligans to 5. I chained him twice without drawing a land. He plays no land, apparantly keeping a 5 card hand with no land. I then Magma Jet him, followed by a Rift Bolt and Fireblast for the win. He played a Shriekmaw on my Pridemage but other than that did not resolve any threats.

+ 3 Pithing Needle Side - 3 Price of Progress. Although I did not see Dark Depths, I knew he ran the combo, so I sided in some hate in anticipation.

Game 2
He mulligans to 6 and starts first. He plays Thoughtseize and cracks a fetch. And he takes my Lavamancer and leaves my Pithing Needle in hand. I play 1 Goblin Guide, 1 Nactl and start to beat him down. He draws a land from my Goblin Guide. He doesn't do much and passes the turn. He reveals a Maelstrom Pulse from his library in response to my Goblin Guide. And I misplay by casting 2 Goyfs right after. He destroys 2 Goyfs and casts his own. I topdeck burn and swing into his Goyf. He is at 3 now. He casts the 2/3 Lifelink Vampiric Nighthawk. I draw a Lightning Bolt and that was game.

Round 2 Yoshihiko Tokuyama with Countertop/Goyf
Game 1
I lose the dice roll and he starts. I begin with the usual 3/3 Nactl and attempt to lay down a Goyf. He Forces, removing another Force of Will. I play Goblin Guide x 2 and swing for 7. He animates his Mishra's Factory that had summoning sickness and blocks Nactl. He attempts to pump, and I tell him that the Factory has summoning sickness. He frowns and his Factory dies. He then gets Counterbalance/Top out but cannot stop by guys from beating him up.

+4 Vexing Shusher -1 Figure of Destiny -1 Wild Nactl -1 Chain Lightning -1 Lavamancer

Game 2
He starts with Land go. I start off with Figure of Destiny. I remember having Price of Progress in my hand along with some Bolts. I attack him with a Nactl and a Figure and he eventually gets a Mishra's Factory and a Tarmogoyf out to act as a wall. I wanted to Price him but forgot to do so before his Mishra's factory died. But it was still okay because I got him for 4 and then Lightning Bolted him for the win.

Round 3 Horie Yoshieki with Elves!
Game 1
He wins the die roll but mulls to 6. I begin with Nactl and Goblin Guide followed by 2 Goyfs. He begins with Elvish Visionary and then later lays down 2x Nettle Sentinal and Glimpse of Nature to draw atleast 4 cards. He has that 1/1 Insect that bounces his Elves and draws even more cards. It doesn't matter though because I attack into his 1/1 or 2/2s and get enough damage through. He did a trick where he would bock with his Elves and then use the 1/1 insects to return them to hand. But that was only a stall tactic. I draw Rift Bolt and Magma Jet him. I was at 17 life and he scoops to overwhelming Goyfs, Cats, and Goblins.

+4 Rolling Earthquake -3 Price of Progress -1 Quasali Pridemage
Game 2
He mulligans to 6 again and starts off with a G/W shockland taking 2 and laying down a Nettle Sentinal. I start off with Wild Nactl and eventually build up a creature base. We race for damage. I topdeck burn after burn and finished him off with Fireblast.

Round 4 Hisayuki Houseki with R/G/B Belcher
Game 1
I took abolutely no notes this game so forgot everything. But from memory. I started with turn 1 Nactl. He started with turn 1 14 Goblin Tokens. I lose.

+4 Pithing Needle +4 Rolling Earthquake -3 Price of Progress -3 Rift Bolt -2 Grim Lavamancer
Game 2
I start and mull to 4 because I found no hate cards my opening hand until I mulled to 4. I went land Pithing Needle. He went Land Grant, LED, Ritual, Ritual, Burning Wish, Crack LED, ill Gotten Gains, Ritual, LED, Wish, Crack LED, Tendrils for 22.

Round 5 Hiroyuki Ooe with Natural Order.dec
Game 1
I overran him simple enough. He did not even get 3 lands in play before I got 2 x Goyf, 2 x Goblin Guide, 1 Lavanmancer, 1 Nactl.

+4 Rolling Earthquake - 3 Figure of Destiny -1 Grim Lavamancer

Game 2
I get off a good start with some creatures and burn. But he plays Kitchen Finks and Pernicious Deed. He wipes the board and then sacrifices Kitchen Finks with Natural Order. 10/10 Progenitus kills me even though I have a 5/6 Goyf out.

-4 Rolling Earthquake, +3 Figure of Destiny + 1 Grim Lavamancer

Game 3
Explosive start with 1 3/3 Nactl. 2nd Turn 2x Goblin Guide and attack for 7. Then he plays a Goyf, and I attack into it and killed the Goyf with my Nactl. He Maelstorm Pulses my 2 Goblin Guides. But he lays down a 3rd nonbasic land. I Price of Progress him to 4 and Fireblast him for the win.

Round 6 Taishi Kobayashi with Dragon Stompy
Game 1
He mulligans to 3 and I just totally kill him.

I saw Simian Spirit Guide and panicked. I thought he was playing Belcher but wasn't too sure.
+1 Vexing Shusher +2 Earthquake -3 Price of Progress

Game 2
He gets a first turn Umezawa's Jitte with Lotus Petal and Chrome Mox. I lay down beaters. He lays down Flametongue Kavu and a Dragon. I manage to clear both with burn and blockers. He however has Jitte. Eventually I run out of cards/gas and slow down into topdeck mode. I remember Earthquaking for 2 in order to kill a creature. Too late though, he manages to get a 3/3 Doublestriking Dragon in play with Jitte and kills me.

+2 Vexing Shusher -2 Earthquake

Game 3
Very intense game. I start off with a Goblin Guide and he reveals Chalice. He plays Ancient Tomb and Chalice for 1. I lay down land and play Quasali Pridemage and attack for 3 with Goblin Guide. He plays Flametongue Kavu on my Quasali Pridemage. I draw a card and lay a land and say go. He plays Umezawa's Jitte but does not equip even though he had the mana. I Magma Jet him end of turn and see another Magma Jet and a Rift Bolt. I take the Rift Bolt on top and my turn, I lay down double Rift Bolt and pass the turn. He taps Ancient Tomb to equip the Jitte and I Fireblast the Kavu in response. Double Rift Bolt resolves and my Goblin Guide damages him to 1. He scoops at his draw step. He was a very nice guy though.

I won:

4 Meddling Mages
1 Countryside Crusher for being 5-1. Yay tie-breakers!!!

Thanks for the cool tournament report!

Here's a question for you regarding your sideboard. Would the Rolling Earthquakes be better served as Volcanic Fallout? Against the stuff you would want it (Goblins, tokens, Merfolk, Elves, Faeries) it's probably just as cheap to cast as Rolling Earthquake, and can't be countered by Force of Will, Daze, or Blue Elemental Blast from Merfolk and Faeries.

Since I don't play Legacy much right now, I have no idea what the metagame is like.  I really don't even know what decks people are playing, but I decided to test this on MWS this morning.

I played against a Life from the Loam/Seismic Assault deck.  Really the only notable thing that I learned is that Wasteland hurts this deck more than I expected.  However, I never got to play a Nacatl in any of the 3 games.

Did you run into any Wastelands in your tournament?  Is Wasteland seeing a lot of play in T1.5 currently?

Would the Rolling Earthquakes be better served as Volcanic Fallout?

Making it an Instant might also be of use.

Saying yes would be the understatement of the year.

Wasteland is pretty much in 1/3+ of all decks played right now and manabases in Legacy are notoriously weak.  Decks that are running wastelands will also be running (or likely to run) Stifle affects to create an even harder position to play out of.

Well, Rolling Earthquake acts as a Fireball late game when topdecked. That is my logic behind it. So far I haven't ran into problems with counters, although there may be situations where that applies. I am still very new to the format but I don't see any problems so far with Rolling Earthquake.
