Yeah, more than likely I will play with 75 prints, mostly because I absolutely hate not having the pics. I usually play with primarily Japanese cards, so I generally play using the pictures anyhow.

Ok, so to clarify, here are the permissible proxy methods for THIS tournament:
1) Taking a Basic Land and Writing the Details of the Card On it (name, casting cost, all relevant game text). Please try to use the same basic land type for all of your proxies, or color coordinate so that the basic land type matches the color of the card you are playing.
2) Taking a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.
When choosing what card to use as the base for an erased proxy players must follow these rules: • The mana cost of the base spell must be the same as the card being proxied. • The type of the card being proxied must be the same as the base card. • The P/T of a creature being proxied must be the same as the base creature P/T • When proxying a creature it may be difficult to find a creature where all characteristics match. In this case, mana cost is the most important, followed by the P/T, followed by the subtype. Any characteristics that do not match must be erased and corrected. • The art box, card name, and text box must be totally erased. White out may not be used for this as it affects the stiffness of the card and may mark it. • When adding text to the card do not use a ball point pen. A extra fine point sharpie is the best thing to use. A ball point pen can cause indentations on the card marking it. • For clarity reasons, the use of cards with the new card frame is strongly encouraged
Examples: • Welding Jar or Spellbook can be used for a Mox or Black Lotus • Disarm could be used for an Ancestral Recall • Train of Thought for a Time Walk • Counsel of the Soratami for a Timetwister.
How to Erase a Card: Acetone and a cotton ball or q-tip works well, as does a pencil/ink eraser (the white/grey split type) using the grey side. Before erasing the card, take masking tape and tape off all the areas that you don't want erased for a clean edge. It will take time, but it will come off.
3) Printing Out 75 Cards. You can print out 75 images and glue them onto existing magic cards. All of your cards MUST have the same thickness.
ALL proxies MUST have:
1) The full name of the card 2) the casting cost of the card 3) Minimal relevant text.
At the tournament, we can talk about using alternative proxy methods, such as
3UU FORCE OF WILL
But, until everyone agrees, we will stick with these three methods.
Keep in mind that Collector's Edition cards are also legal so long as you follow the instructions in the original post.
Hope this helps...

Na, I'm going to keep my mana base non-holo-foil so I can see where my business spells are. That way I can yell "C'mon top Deck!" and rip the nutz.

This is going down on Sunday. I wonder if Cleveland will represent and take up more than 50% of the Top 8 slots.

There is nothing like playing vintage. Just remind folks that this is a great opportunity to play vintage and how much fun it will be to play.

Another great turnout in the Midwest! 2010 is shaping up to be an awesome year for Vintage. I will post decklists sometime this week.
I got first place facing, in the top 8: Tezzeret, 5c Stax, and Tez in the finals. I built it late last night using my 5-step process based on recent tournament data. I'll be writing a full report for SCG, both on the tournament and how I built the deck. But here's what I played:
Tezzeret Control, Jan, 2010 Stephen Menendian
4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain
1 Ancestral Recall 1 Time Walk 1 Brainstorm 1 Ponder 2 Sensei’s Divining Top 4 Dark Confidant 2 Sower of Temptation
1 Time Vault 1 Voltaic Key 1 Tinker 1 Inkwell Leviathan 1 Yawgmoth’s Will
1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Imperial Seal 1 Merchant Scroll 1 Gifts Ungiven
1 Lightning Bolt 1 Chain of Vapor 1 Hurkyl’s Recall 1 Darkblast
3 Island 1 Swamp 4 Polluted Delta 1 Misty Rainforest 1 Scalding Tarn 2 Underground Sea 3 Volcanic Island 1 Tolarian Academy 1 Library of Alexandria 1 Black Lotus 1 Sol Ring 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mana Vault 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet

I built it late last night using my 5-step process based on recent tournament data. Semi joking, but mostly seriously, how the hell did a 5-step process lead you to play Lightning Bolt in Tezzeret? Wouldn't that have just been better as a Repeal in 95% of cases?

Hahaha I was wondering the same thing, but in a game we were playing, that 5% case was up and it mattered.

Incidentally, I also wanted to see how it tested in case I'd use it in the Lodestone Golem metagame.
