@whoever asked : It's not the fact that i don't own a lotus that makes me not play it in MUD. I don't own a power but i'm allways full powered when i play vintage tournaments (both proxy or borrowing power)

From my initial testings, the card is really the worst in 5c Stax, where you can't allow your opponent developp his board with mana accelerants in the first turns. Lodestone golem can't prevent this, so its not good for the deck. I lost a really high number of games because of that aspect, and i still think that both Thorn of amethyst and chalice of the void are better choices for a 5cStax Build.

It's alot better in BR stax, being nice in the Null rod slots (which i never liked in the deck anyway) helping to give a clock that can be revelant to win some games fast, i really loved the card in the deck.

But the card is really the best in MUD aggro, where 13 spheres/8 juggys make a really solid build, really consistant.

In fact, i tend to think that the card is really metagame dependant. Mainly depending on how fish is played in the tournament.

I would never ever run this guy in 5c stax due to the tight mana base, and I would no remove CotV in order to put it on a R or B/R list just because this guy + chalice @ 0 seems awesome to me, the only drawback is that they are able to play moxen under this guy and a 0cc card can unable them to do it. I would either remove null-rods, I would make room removing 1 or 2 thorn and other slots since they are not as useful against fishy decks and they are at high numbers atm.

I agree with all you said in fact :
 - in 5cStax, the only 3 slots i had to include him where instead of CotV or Thorn of amethyst, he didn't perform better than any other options. I couldn't remove any other card to free slots for him, so it's a no.

 - In B/R stax, i removed the 3 null rod to include 3 lodestone golem, mainly because fish and other creature decks are played alots in france, so he is better than null rod maindeck (which are now in my sideboard). In an american metagame, i think i would maindeck Null rod and have golem in sideboard for creatures matchup.

As noticed, the only manabase that support him well is the MUD Stax/Aggro manabase, where hte card performed the best, because all lands give at least 2 mana, except the Waste/strip. That said, the main problem with golem is that a turn one Shop mox golem isn't as good as a turn 1 land mox Sphere/thorn.

I play something like this, but I play a full suite of null rod and chalice to negate this small problem...
