Hi, I'm Nick from the Adventurer's Guild in Harrisburg, PA.  We are having a gaming con in Harrisburg the last weekend of January with events from 1/29, 1/30, 1/31.  The highlight of the weekend is the 15 proxy vintage tournament on Sunday.  Its our first tournament of the kind and im determined to make it memorable.  It will be $25 Entry fee.  I'm guaranteeing at least a Mox Emerald for first place.  If more than 20 people show for the tournament i will add an additional piece of power for 2nd place.  There will also be a prize for the highest placing deck without proxy or power. Iif we have more people attend we will expand the prize payout.

If you want to make it a weekend, we have a lot of Magic, L5R, Bloodbowl and Warhammer Fantasy/40k events going on all weekend long.

Magic events are starting Friday at 6:30 which will be a standard FNM where we are giving out store credit that you can use for products or for entry fees for the weekend or whenever you would like to cash in.  Friday Night at midnight we will be having a Worldwake Prerelease Sealed deck tournament.

Saturday at Noon will be the start of our 1k Standard Cash Tournament.  We are expecting a decent tournament and cash will be given out to top 4 with more prizes paid down based on turnout.

Sunday is of course the vintage tournament, starting at noon.

Im sorry for the delay on the post and the short notice,  it was a last minute addition and it took a bit to get permission to post on the website.  Thanks for reading and i hope to see you there.

If you have any questions, Call me 717 460 2887, email me biggnoc@hotmail.com, Pm me or check www.theadventurersguild.com or friend "Harrisburg Adventurer's Guild Draft Group" on Facebook.

Where exactly is this event being held, in the store or where?

There's a good chance I'll come to at least the Vintage.  Is the $1K guaranteed?

I talked to the TO and 99% if not all the entry fee will go to prize support. Boosters and singles of vintage and non vintage stuff. The more people we get more power as well so hopefully we will have a good turn out.

Prizes for 3rd/4th place are going to be determined by turnout.  It could be dual lands, fetches, FOW's or even another piece of power if turnout is big enough.

The 1k for the standard tournament isnt gauranteed unfortunately.  but every dollar we get up to the 1k will be put into the cash prizes.  If we get over 40 in attendance ($25 x 40 = 1000) we will put more prizes into the pool like packs or store credit.  Im trying to make every tournament worth the trip for people in the surrounding areas.

If you have any other questions please get to me as early as possible.  Otherwise, i cant wait to meet everyone this weekend!.

There is a pretty strong chance I will be going there for the Vintage tournament.

I'm coming from the Philly area, so if anyone would like a ride, or wants someone to ride with them, let me know.

Yeah, there seems to be some confusion where the event is so to clarify the Vintage tournament (Sunday) and Standard tournament (Saturday) will be held at

Steelton-Swatara Masonic Lodge No 775
350 N Harrisburg St
Oberlin, PA

and here is a mapquest link ----------> http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Oberlin&state=PA&address=350+N+Harrisburg+St&zipcode=17113-1343&country=US&latitude=40.240104&longitude=-76.841803&geocode=ADDRESS

If you are interested in the Friday Midnight Pre-Release this event is being held at the store, the ONLY event held at the store.....

I think these map quest directions are wrong. I just talk to my buddy Matt thats there watching the standard event final. He said you go behind the Harrisburg Mall and drive a half mile and its on the left, this matches google but not map quest. So i would trust google directions over the map quest directions.

Good thing because my Navigon was more or less mapquest directions so I was going to go on majority...

Thanks

If you pull it up on Google Maps and  switch to street view, you can see the lodge place right there so Google Maps is right. I really, really hate Mapquest.

I really hate my $60 GPS that agrees with Mapquest.

Just to clarify the DD combo is Dark Depths combo along the lines of the Max Brown special and not Doomsday.

Good location, well sized venue and I would also say it was run well.  I hope to see more events this close to Penn State.

Glad people were able to actually find the venue despite the mapquest and GPS problems. I am working with nick to get another one going on around here soon so stay tuned for that. Pretty solid turnout despite pre-release weekend and looking for to make sure more events get hosted out here in Harrisburg, thank you all who attended....

This was a great tournament, and a lot of fun.  The RB Goblins player was Joe Tanner, and the UBW Tezzeret player was Doug Azzano, both from Northern Virginia.

It was definitely mentioned how much more convenient it is for us to get to Harrisburg than to Philadelphia or farther north.  No tolls!

Anyway, I hope you can have another tournament out that way again soon.  We'll definitely be there in support.

Great tourament Nick, I enjoy it, even though I didn't top 8. I look forward in more Vintage touraments. The prize support was good and plenty of room to play. Living within minutes from the tourament was really nice. I will help support your other vintage touraments that you hold, if im able to attend.

In case anyone was curious, below is the deck I played.  There were some issues with the list, especially the sideboard, which I'll discuss in my article on SCG next week.  I had a lot of fun playing this thing.  Its relatively solid for a deck we worked on for five days.

Two Card Monte:

4 Leyline of the Void
4 Helm of Obedience
4 Painter’s Servant
3 Grindstone
4 Goblin Welder
3 Red Elemental Blast
Memory Jar
Wheel of Fortune
Tinker
Ancestral Recall
Vampiric Tutor
Demonic Tutor
Demonic Consultation
Black Lotus
Sol Ring
Mana Crypt
Lotus Petal
Mana Vault
Mox Jet
Mox Sapphire
Mox Emerald
Mox Ruby
Mox Pearl
4 Mishra’s Workshop
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Brass
4 Gemstone Mine
1 Tolarian Academy

SB

4 Dark Confidant
2 Tormod's Crypt
1 Ancient Grudge
2 Chain of Vapor
1 Inkwell Leviathan
2 Pithing Needle
1 Ray of Revelation
2 Krosan Grip

thanks everyone for the turnout! it was a great tournament and im glad that we got some good feedback on the event.  Im working on the post for the T8 decklists which should be up in like 5 mins or so.

Like i said, it was the first vintage tournament i have ran and im glad everyone was supportive.  We will definately have another tournament soon, hopefully sometime in April if there is a weekend where there isnt another tournament.

On the bright side, our store is much easier to find than that site so it should be much easier for everyone Smile

Nick

P.S. sorry there was a little confusion on the prizes, after talking to some of those in attendance i will definately keep giving good prizes but i will try to payout for the entire top 8 next time.  And give a booby prize to the highest placing deck without proxies.
