First,

Thank you all…………..

You are the reason we can have these great tournaments in the first place, because of you all we could celebrate our tenth edition of The Dutch Vintage Tournament Series.

This event was a celebration and there for we gave a Black Lotus for first and a Timetwister for Second. We had 49 players and although we had Guaranteed the Black Lotus with 50 Players and Up, we still gave it away. And the rest of the Price structure remained the same.

I also want to say special thank you to Bram Snepvangers who made his time available to Judge our event due to the unavailability of our other Judge.

The Top 8 was filled with some regulars but the finals where played by the Veteran and the Rooky,

Quarter finals:
1   Rieff, Menno
8   Veen van de, Steffen      Menno Wins

2   Hendriks, Thommas
7   Ruijterkamp, Arjen      Thommas Wins

3   Bollen, Joost
6   Drijvers, Richard      Joost Wins

4   Bulk van den, Steve
5   Reijnders, Peter      Steve Wins

Semi Finals:
1   Rieff, Menno
4   Bulk van den, Steve      Menno Wins

3   Bollen, Joost
2   Hendriks, Thommas      Joost Wins

Finals:
1   Rieff, Menno
3   Bollen, Joost      Menno Wins the Black Lotus

Congratulation to Menno for taking the Black Lotus with him and to Joost who played his first Vintage Tournament (He is a Legacy player with numerous Top 8 finishes). But what you all want to read is below. The Top 8 Decks a Metagame breakdown and the complete standings.

It was an awesome event, even though I received the hardest ass kicking I've had in ages (as my result shows)... It's never before happened to me that I went 0-4 drop... my deck completely shit out on me. (Played Watskeburt) That being said, it was a wonderful day filled with Vintage and I'm sure I'll get out of this slump fast enough..

It's awesome to see Richard Drijvers put up such a good result with my list Wink (As you can see he played the same one Smmenen quoted which I've suggested a few weeks ago)

Arjan, thanks for putting the results up so fast.

I was looking at that and like.... wait a second... that looks familiar!  It looks like he played, card for card, the one I played at the Meandeck Open at the end of November!   All the way to down to Imperial Seal and the absurd 18 land Wink

Looks like it paid off as the top 8 was all Fish and Stax!

Haha, ok, so he played a maindeck we both have been advocating Wink and, unless I'm miscounting, which I'm not, he plays 14 land! It was the sideboard I've been using however Razz. Too bad Richard got his ass kicked by Selkie in a drawn out top 8 match, I think had he beaten that he could have easily gone to win the entire thing.

It was a great event (of course since I won it Wink) and thank you for organizing it.
I attribute my win mostly to the decklist, which must also seem familair to someone  Smile

Although my draws were by no means spectacular (no turn 1 Ancestralls  or a funny Lotus, on average 1 mulligan per match) I did manage to draw quite a healthy mix of counters/card drawers/mana. And that decklist is really very tight. I had doubts about the Darkblast, but I am really happy I kept it in.

Now anyone needs a Lotus  Very Happy

Yeah, me. I still have to e-mail you about that, but I always forgot to bring the note with your e-mail to work Wink

Congratulations on the win. That was one of the most fun finals I've ever played, haha, it was crazy. Very Happy

Edit: P.S. I didn't play Mystic Decree but Mystical Tutor seems to be missing in that list Wink

Changed into Mystical Tutor in the first post.

@ Mrieff and Skeggi,
Thanks for the props here and on TMC, I hope to see you both on our next event and of course congratulations to both of you.

@ LotusHead,
Great that you liked it, it is also much easier and I will do it for all the upcoming events as well.

@ Marske,
Smmenen was indicating the Tezz list that was played by Mrieff, not the the TPS list from Richard.

That happens when you pick-up a deck the night before and never even playtested it once, You never comboed game one with BF.
If you play Watskeburt as TPS you will lose hard, If you play the deck without Focus, you lose hard (As I did in the first 2 rounds).

What I'm trying to say is: The deck is good for the above Metagame but you need allot of skill and Focus to win with it.

we can have lists of "The Deck" & Control Slaver ???
Sorry, but only top 8 lists will be posted.

@Zieby,
Then why did he quote me ?! Wink I was referring to the TPS list Richard played not the Tezz list that won the event !

The fact that I didn't sleep more then 2 hours and was already feeling sick didn't help either Wink That being said, you are obviously right, it's a hard deck to play and I probably shouldn't have played it without practicing.

I'm glad to see a BR stax list in the top 4.

That sideboard is the nutz vs fish.

There were control slaver decks there?
That's interesting.
EDIT: Misread something.

Anyway. Is control slaver still viable?
Pardon me if I shouldn't ask this here.
I just think it's interesting to see some of those decks on the list that are more fringe like that.

@endelig,
How more detailed do you want ?! I don't see this much detail with most Result threads to be fair.... Do you guys really want to see every non-top 8 decklist because it has a funny name or is an old list? What's next, people calling their deck "Attack of the Fluffy bunnies" to just get their deck online after they scrub out ?!

Control Slaver seems buildable, that's not to say it's viable.

Control Slaver was played with Strategic Planning and Intuition as GY fillers.

Viable --> He was 18th at the end of the tournament.

I was just wondering if there was some sort of new tech or something. I see it's just strategic slaver. I didn't mean to ask for much extra or anything. I just find old decks like slaver performing at any level in current metas to be interesting. I suppose it's more a matter of personal interest. There is always the possibility of a resurgence of some old deck in the current meta.

The deck needs some more help against that Selkie Strike stuff.
It is basically all I've lost too while playing the deck in 2 different tournaments. (playing against Selkie Strike 4 times in total in those 2 tournaments)
