Someone needs to do one, and I'm not that someone.  I have premium thingie on MagicWorkstation but I have to wait weeks usually to get official update.

Last update was on the www.magicworkstation.com site as given by some other party (which was much appreciated), but until then, I have to tell opponent that my Juggernaut is actually a Lodestone Golem.

Someone here must know how to update their database quickly.  Please post a primer, or at least specifically how to get WorldWake on MWS as ZEN and WWK are both relevant Vintage sets...

Thank you in advance.

Check out the forums at slightlymagic.net

They usually have the updated masterbase kicking around a few days after the new set, I found worldwake here, verified working: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IR7T7FTI

first post under that thread.  thats WorldWake.

Just check the "General Information" "hide/show" button for full directions.

http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=181344

first post under that thread.  thats zendikar.

hope this helped Smile

Ignore everything in this post.  Read my next post for detailed, simple step-by-step directions on how to sucessfully install MWS sets.  I even removed my current WW and ZEN, just so i could follow my own directions step by step and make sure it works (It did).  Hope this helps

Lotushead is right, there should be a primer on this. A constantly updating thread with links to all the new data would be a sick way to go.

The two links didn't help me yet, although I will probably try to decipher it again later tonight.

By following the instructions on the MTGSalvation page, I still end up with an invalid format for my decklist.  Maybe I don't know how to "compile" something or other.

The other link had me download some site specific program, and then I don't remember what happened then, but no joy yet.

Okay, ignore my first post if it was confusing, let me try it again.

1)
Code:
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=94551&d=1254016714
copy and paste that into your URL browser.  Something should pop up.  After that hit "Save" and save it to some place you can find it (Desktop is usually a good place) name the file Zendikar.txt

2)
Code:
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=100452&d=1264741855
copy and paste that into your URL browser.  Something should pop up.  After that hit "Save" and save it to some place you can find it (Desktop is usually a good place) name the file Worldwake.txt

3) Open MWS (Not the online play)

4) Put MWS in Library mode (View > Library Mode)

5) Go to the set manager (Tools > Analyze/Add/Remove Sets)

6) Click "Add New Addition"

7) Fill in the Addition Name (Zendikar or Worldwake) and Addition Key (ZEN or WWK)

8) Click the box that says "Get data from Text Spoiler"

9) Click the little folder button then click for the text file that coresponds with the set you are entering)

10) Click "Next Page"

11) Click "Add Edition"

12) Click "Okay"

13) Repeat steps 5-12

14)  After you have sucessfully installed every set, remember to save your library.  To do this, click on the upper half of the screen (The Library), then click "File > Save Library/Deck as" and select "Master.mwBase" and overright it.

Sometimes it gives an error when trying to add a set, if it does, simply close out MWS, then re-open it.

Thanks go to the people at MTGSalvation for putting the text file togather.

This is why I usually just wait until the "official" patch, as painful as it is to wait.

the key is WW not WWK?

8) Click the box that says "Get data from Text Spoiler"

10) Click "Next Page"

11) Click "Next Page"

12) Click "Okay"
After #10, there is no next page button, but add edition button.

This is where I got so far.

Thank you for the awesome expanded primer, but I've still got a ways to go.

You probobly did not save your master base.

After you added one of the new sets, click on the upper half of the screen and hit "File > Save Deck/Library"

If this didnt fix it, make sure your master base is in the proper area.  To do so "File > Assign Default Master Base" and select "Master.mwBase"

Ok, I got it to work finally (THANKS!) and the difference this last time was I went to "Save Deck/Library AS" and then made specifically sure to save it as Master.mwBase, specifically overwriting the last version.

You should edit #14 in original post to the SAVE AS thingie. Smile

I PM'ed Wiley to maybe include this primer in his Vintage Encyclopedia, but if this thread gets bumped whenever a new set comes out, that would be great.

Would you mind doing a followup primer for getting pics?  There was a thread about a year ago on it, and I successfully got all sets up to M10, but not ZEN or WWK.

Heya,

Thanks for getting that up so quick.  I seem to be having a problem with it, tho.  I've loaded the new set and saved my Library.  But when I try to open a deck that has SoM cards in it, I get an error message that says, "[Name of Card] not in base" even though I can go right up to the library and find it using the search.  Do you (or anyone) happen to know what the problem might be?

Peace,

-Troy

Make sure the the top base is selected when you add the Scars set, then save the library as mws.base (or whatever it is), then close out MWS, and restart it, and see if it's still there before fiddling with decklists.

My update works fine.

Hm.  Can't get it to work at all.  I've uninstalled MWS, Reinstalled it, and reloaded SoM.  All the other sets in this thread work just fine for me.  And when it comes to SoM, I can see the cards in the top base, it just doesn't recognize them when I open a deck.  Strange.

Thanks, that helped.  The problem was I was just saving the Libray instead of overwriting the Master file. Folow*the*directions*Troy!  Thanks everyone Smile

As a note, you can always use goblin hero's latest master base once he puts one out.  Usually he waits until release day so he can work off a sortable spoiler to compile the set.  Here is the link for the latest one (includes SoM): http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=459

Usually you will have to wait longer for GH's mater bases so keeping up with the individual updates like those already posted in this thread is essential if you are trying to get a leg up in early testing.

I'm getting a "Load error: cards not found in base" since I recently tried to bring in MBS.  Never had this problem before, any help welcome.

Yeah, I saw that; not a relevant solution.

I'll try reinstalling MWS to see if there's something rotten that needs to be purged, but I'm not optimistic.

Thanks for the update. I hope someone figures out how to update to the Phyrexian Mana symbol.

Also, if I see a Hex Parasite in real life, I will punch it in the f=ing face!

People are still using MWS?  Cockatrice has definitely taken the lead at this point.
