Hi everyone. Just joined the site, and instead of necro-ing an old thread, I figured I would start a new one. If anyone can point me in the right direction, please let me know: I moved to Colorado (Boulder) recently, and am looking for casual/legacy/vintage (if I can ever get fully powered) people to play with. I have started surveying the Magic scene, and there are quite a few players from Colorado on this forum, I believe. When and where do you meet, and would you be looking for additional players? Thanks for any help!

Welcome!
I also live in Boulder. There is a pretty solid vintage group around here although for the most part the group only tests and plays when there is an upcoming tournament like the one in Littleton on the 11th. If you are interested in playing the tournament is 10 proxies without the option to buy more. We are likely testing a few times during the rest of this week.

Hi Dave Thanks for getting back to me. I would love to play with some vintage players - I doubt I would be up to the challenge of a vintage tournament, even given 10 proxies... but then again, one never knows. I would definitely be down for playing, if you guys are playtesting and/or getting in some casual games. So if that is the case, let me know when and where! Thanks, Dan

for casual play, try karlequins game knight off arapahoe and 33rd. for drafts and such, time warp comics and gamers guild are the way to go.
for a local, mainly boulder magic forum, try teamwarp.forummotion.com
for competitive vintage, try me.

Well, I played casual at Gamer's Guild tonight. I have been to Time Warp and Karlequins, and find Gamer's Guild to have the best resources and attendance. Maybe I will try both other shops again. Thanks for the link as well; I doubt I would be the best vintage competitor, but if you ever want to playtest, I am always available...

Both Pierce and I were at Gamers Guild last night as well. Were you the guy playing the old school decks?

I was. It was a blast, and that is the type of atmosphere that I most enjoy. I only played a few decks, but I do have a lot; they are all, however, built only out of cards before (and including) the Mirage cycle. Those are the reasons why I don't play competitive vintage: I like a casual atmosphere and I don't plan on getting any staples from after the Mirage cycle (such as Mox Diamond, Lotus Petal, Tarmo, Skullclamp, etc.)

If you're still looking for Vintage events, consider Black Gold down in Littleton, South of Denver. We play every Thursday at 6:00pm, which might be a challenge when coming from Boulder if you work full time, but it's a good scene with alot of cool dudes.
Also, I think there's a Sunday tournament coming up on July 18 or so. Aosquirrels has a post up in the Tournament Announcement section. Hope to see you there!

It's really weird to me that this is in Vintage Issues instead of General Community Discussion or somesuch.

I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.
Much like humanity itself.

I know this cool cat who goes by the handle of CoffeeCup on TMD that hangs around Boulder. If you like beer, mtg, and great times you should shoot him a pm.

The Boulder players have formed a team to discuss strategy, which can be found at teamwarp.forummotion.com. That should be your best bet for good vintage.
