Today I played the stickiest of the ichy and this shit is the bomb! Actually I just took Matt Elias' list and it was pretty good.
The white leyline was almost never relevant, and ad naus turn 2'd me right through it. It really suck at stopping combo now that they can preordain to find chain.
I'll post more later.

Thanks for another great tourney Eric and Shannon! It was a blast (even though I won one game!)
James, congrats again. That build looked like a pain in the ass to face.

Congrats James, made me realize that double Leyline doesn't equal a guaranteed win against Dredge.
Aj, his build certainly was a pain to play against, it handed me my only losses. Eight answers to LotV after board while having white leylines to stop targeted graveyard removal is difficult to overcome.

Yup. Dredge has gotten really good. Scary to say the least.

It was so frustrating making the mistake I did to lose to James. Either way, it was a good tournament and I finally broke my slide of missing top8s.
The format is still garbage though.

I was 3-2 with Bob Tendrils, missing top 8.
Split Tendril's mirrors, lost to Danny F's U-control, beat GW aggro and UR Shops.
Resolving Timetwister was a coin flip for the win - horrendous or amazing.

Alright here is my mini report on the tourney. I didnt take notes and the stick ichy has left my short term memory...well a little short.
Anyways I chose to play Matt Elias' dredge list. Mainly because I wanted to play Ichorid and Leyline of Sanctity but am too fucking lazy to make my own deck list. Conveniently his newest article had a list that looked fine so i net-decked that shit.
Round 1 Peter Tragos-Empire Fish Game 1 I do my thing and win pretty easily. Game 2 He starts with leyline of the void and spell pierces my natures claim. Then he runs me down with Goyf. Game 3 Not much to say here. He mulls to three and only has wasteland. Luckily for me I have 2 bazaars and I crush.
Round 2. I think his name is Jason playing W/R/B hate cards and burn Game 1 This is pretty easy and I kill him on like turn 3 or 4. Game 2 He lands a turn 2 magus and shuts me down pretty hard. I soon die. Game 3 I have a bazaar and he doesnt do much of anything. He eventually finds Magus when I have around 20 cards left in my deck so it doesnt matter.
Round 3 Jake Kempfer Ad Naus Tendrils. Game 1 I therapy away his business early and he can't recover. Game 2 This match was longer but he gets a necro and rides it to a kill 2 turns later Game 3 I have an opening leyline of sanctity, but Jake doesnt care and kills me on turn 2.
Round 4 Larry Griswald playing U/R Shops Game 1 Larry has a turn 1 ancestral recall but doesnt get a chance to do much more before I win. Game 2 He plays some duplicants and suspends a greater garg. but can't stop me from dredging at will and dies.
Round 5 ID with John Lalo
Top 8 Peter again Game 1 I roll with the dredges and win. Game 2 he mulls to 5 and has a double leyline opener. My 6 card hand is 2 natures claim, undiscovered paradise, bazaar, troll, something else. Peter plays a emerald and passes. I play bazaar. He draws and plays strip mine, then cast a goyf. I play undiscovered paradise. He plays another goyf. I Claim a leyline then replay the undiscovered paradise on my turn and nail the other one. I begin bazaaring well getting beat down to 7. He eventually gets a trygon predator down. I can't find a bridge and am dying, so i have to play a golgari thug to chump with and return a narcomeaba every turn until bridge shows up in multiples and I win.
Top4 Soly These games are interesting and Im going to do my best to give play by play. Even though I got the win it wasnt a shining moment. Game 1 Soly plays Lotus, Mox, Land, Fact or fiction, mox, and time walk on his turn 1. Turn 2 he tinkers and gets Inkwell and has strip mine. I lose when my dreging is irrelevant.
Game 2. This is slow after my bridges get extirpated. I have 3 narcos that are on the beat down and an ichorid without another black creature in my yard. soly E truths my narcos so i can discard. I pitch a bloodghast. Soly go and talks to a judge for quite a bit of time. They look shit up and soly comes back and pithing needles my ichorid. At this point Im pretty tired and figure soly wouldn't try to go bush league on me so I don't bring back Ichorid on my turn. I have a fair number of lands so I play the percentages and draw one and landfall bloodghast and haste kills him.
game 3. Soly mulls and opens with mana crypt, mox ruby, time vault. On my turn I play a City of Brass so I can Chain of vapor his time vault in an emergency. I then play chalice@0 and ship the turn. Soly fetches a Underground sea and plays demonic tutor. He then plays Voltaic Key with a colorless mana floating. I respond by chaining his time vault. He sacs his underground sea to copy chain to his mana crypt. He then attempts to replay mana crypt so he can cast his time vault. I inform his that crypt is countered by chalice and Soly goes on tilt. His board is now mox ruby and Voltaic key. My next turn I play bazaar and natures claim his key. I then ride bloodghast beat downs to the win.
Finals John Beste Oath John declines my offer to split and I'm actually happy to play it out. I'm reasonably sure that John has never beat me in a tournament and as an oath player I was never looking forward to playing against dredge. The fact ichorid can sac orchard tokens to do cool shit makes it a bit harder to get oath active before they kill you.
Game 1 John mulls to 5. I open with a bazaar, chalice@0, and unmask. The unmask revealed 2 lands, mana crypt, tinker, and mana drain. I take tinker and then take him to the woodshed. Game 2 John opens with a land. I play bazaar and activate it. I discard three dredgers and pass. He EoT vamps. On his next turn he plays a Jailer. I play land go. He attacks and does nothing else. I play another land and hardcast narco. he plays land go. On my turn I play a bloodghast, and pass. John plays land go. I attack with bloodghast and play another narco. John plays a land. I play stinkweed imp. and all this leads to me attacking with hardcasted guys for the win, and the Mox Jet. John gets a grim tutor.
Overall the deck is a beast but I think the list could be better. Both leyline and chalice were a little underwhelming in this event. I played really poorly in this event because I was tired, and dont really play vintage ever, and the deck still got me there. That should tell you how good dredge is.
If i fucked up any of the details forgive me and feel free to correct me below.

NOT TRUE! it was 2 oath mirrors even! But your record against me is definitely pretty positive. But yeah, my sb plan was not nearly as well thought out as I thought it was, and you deserved to win that matchup. Also, tidespout tyrant sucked all day

I was curious about that guy because Soly was talking him up. I'd be interested to see him in action if you ran preordain for extra cheap spells to fuel the bounce.

Obviously, you need a very different build then what I was playing. I sometimes found my self is odd spots where i could cast something to bounce some stuff, but it would take me off pierce or drain. Obviously pair with pre ordain and thoughtsieze.

About the Pithing Needle play. It might be very shitty, but is very much so legal. I know you know that, but I need to clarify because I don't want everyone thinking I tried to cheat...
I can legally Pithing Needle Ichorid. Then James said "I assume that is Legal", and went on with his turn. If he had asked "is that legal" i could have answered Yes, because I can legally name Ichorid with Ichorid. However, if James had asked if it stopped Ichorid, I would have answered No.

Oh it was definetly legal to do. Had I actually thought about it I wouldve figured it out. That wasn't even close to my only misplay of the day though.

Yeah but none of your misplays cost a pen it's life.
Everyone does it. Some of us tinker with Sphinx in hand (I know Soly that you had the echoing truth after all of that but it still would have made me feel better than grabbing a damn top).
But like James said. Dredge is just that good right now. It seems like the best way to attack it is with dudes that hate it out to cut their sb hate from 8 cards to 4 (making claim irrelevant). Petrified Field in the main is just dumb. It really takes the edge off killing a Bazaar. But congrats again to everyone who top 8'd.
