Since fall is approaching and therefore my Magic season is starting back up, I am looking for places to play Vintage in or near MN.

I played in the tourney at Monster's Den this summer, but sounds like they only run ONCE a year.  I have been asking around and no one knows of any tournaments being held.

So if anyone local knows where to get that Vintage fix, or if anyone is interesting in working to get some going (I am all for helping get vintage back around here), please reply.

Monster's Den and Jason's other store Dreamers used to have well attended monthly vintage tournaments many years back, but Legacy has taken over.  I was considering going to that July vintage tournament, but it didn't work into my schedule.  Curiously, how many people showed up and what was the prize?

I think the best bet to getting a scene going in the Twin Cities is to convince Jason to run more at the Den, but I'm not sure there's enough interest.  The old vintage guard is all but gone.   Closest vintage tournaments that I know of are the ones held in Wisconsin.  As for me, I'm hoping power is released on MTGO.  While it's not the same as IRL, it's much more convenient for a family man, and better than no vintage at all.

About 15 player attended, prizes ended up being cash though I can't recall the amount.  It was at the same time as another large event so attendance might have been better on another day.

I think you are correct that the Den is probably the best place to get it revived.  I have hope though.  2 of the players had driven up from Winona for the event.

MTGO something I want to get into as it has taken so much effort to get older real cards and I don't want to try and get digital ones as well.  I remeber some of the other players commenting that it was nice to finally play their decks against a live opponent...sad commentary, but the truth.

Thanks for pointing it out, I missed it on their calender.

For those that missed it http://www.dreamersgames.com October 16th Type 1 at 1:00pm.

I think the more people showing up for these the better to get a vintage scence back in the Twin Cities.

AVOID MTG Fanatic! They remand orders and re-list the cards for more money.

That is great the more people the better.

I was at Monster's Den this weekend playing Legacy and they said they are going to try and have a vintage tournament every 2-3 months.  If we can get good turn out for these and people are vocal about wanting more of this, maybe we can get it back to a regular event and more often.
