So finally I'm back home from Milano and actually can't wait to sleep in my own bed again after this weekend, but since I'm hungry I can write down my report while I eat.
Since I don't want to remember how exhausting the way to Milano was (I will just say that we needed 10 1/2 hours for the way we actually just needed 5 1/2 hours due to a massive amount of traffic jams) and how stupid Legacy has been for me (0-2 drop with UBw Doomsday. I misplay twice in my first match and get lucksacked in the 2nd, I am on tilt and certain that I won't get back my focus for the rest of the day), I'll just skip to the Vintage tournament report as I won't be able to make the preamble very funny anyway due to the lack of rhetorical skills.
So. My weapon of choice:
// Lands
4 Bazaar of Baghdad
1 Dakmor Salvage
4 Undiscovered Paradise
2 City of Brass
2 Petrified Field
// Creatures
4 Bloodghast
2 Golgari Thug
2 Ichorid
4 Narcomoeba
1 Flame-Kin Zealot
4 Golgari Grave-Troll
4 [DDC] Stinkweed Imp
1 Woodfall Primus
// Spells
4 Bridge from Below
4 Cabal Therapy
2 Dread Return
4 Serum Powder
4 Leyline of the Void
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Darkblast
2 Nature's Claim
// Sideboard
SB: 2 City of Brass
SB: 1 Ichorid
SB: 2 Darkblast
SB: 2 Nature's Claim
SB: 4 Chain of Vapor
SB: 4 Leyline of Sanctity
This is basically Womba's build. After the Darmstadt event where I saw a ridiculous amount of Jailers I wanted to raise the amount of Darkblasts to a minimum of 3 in my 75. I was never a fan of maindeck Nature's Claim, but squeezing some SB cards into the maindeck will free up some slots for my problem. I could have played the 2 Darkblasts maindeck instead of the 2 Claims, but I remembered Womba's list and therefore made it myself quite comfortable and sleeved it up without reflecting any further. In that slot it doesn't really matter what you play anyway as long as the skeleton remains the same.
So now for the interesting part: The matches!
Match 1 against Daniele Mura with MUDDiceroll: Him.
I don't remember very much, but G1 I open with Leyline of the Void and get my Bazaar wasted, but Leyline protects my Bridges and so I proceed to slowdredge and spawn tokens with Ichorid.
1-0
Game 2 was funny, I had the white Leyline and get my Bazaar wasted again. I don't remember much of the game, but telling from the lifetotals, I had a Lodestone Golem bashing me for some turns. But I DO remember that he had Metalworker and a Tormod's Crypt as well, together with 1 Sphere. When he tried to drop a 3rd Sphere, I Nature's Claim the other one. He reveals me 2 Silent Arbiter and plays them both.
So now he can just attack with the Golem into my tokens and nothing will happen, but I kinda run out of ideas as I boarded out my Dread Returns and can't spawn a big Troll.
I beat him with 1 Moeba for 8 turns and keep on spawning tokens, then I dig into 2 Chain of Vapors with my Bazaar after draw-going for these turns (I didn't had much cards left and I needed solutions). SO EOT I bounce 1 Arbiter, mainphase bounce the other one and stomp him with ~30 tokens.
2-0, 1-0-0Match 2 against Thommaso Culasso with BG SuiDiceroll: Me.
g1 I start with Bazaar, Chalice 0 and pass the turn. He goes Swamp, go. I dredge good stuff, Therapy for Dark Ritual (succeeded!) and then Therapy for Pernicious Deed. 2 Turns later a Troll stomps him.
1-0
g2 I mulligan to 1, he opens with Leyline, drops a Goyf, fuels the Goyf and beats me down.
1-1
g3 was stuoid as well, I opened with Bazaar and he wastes it. I slowdredge into Ichorid and Bridges and in his turns he extirpates my Bridges and then also plays a Sadistic Sacrament with Lotus Petal -> Dark Ritual and takes the 2 other Ichorids and a Bloodghast out of my deck. Telling fromt he lifetotals I was able to beat him 3 times with Ichorid until he drops a Goyf. I have 2 Chain of Vapors in my hand but don't have a land to bounce the Goyf and Therapy him.
I draw-go for another 2 turns and he plays a Chalice1. I draw my card: It's the land. I just watch how the Goyf slays me.
1-2, 1-1-0Match 3 against Marco Dipace with Mono R GoblinsDiceroll: Me
g1 I open with black Leyline and Bazaar and win on Turn 3.
g2 was a bummer, I opened with the white Leyline and he does Mountain, go. I Bazaar,go. He drops another land and passes the turn. Now I dredge good stuff and I have 3 relevant handcards in my hanbd: Petrified Field, Cty of Brass, Nature's Claim. Due to the white Leyline I feel very safe and didn't feel like I needed Nature's Claim, instead I would like to finish him off the next turn with Fields into a 2nd Bazaar. So I drop the Field and pass my Turn only to watch how he does "Mountain, Blood Moon, go.". Fuck. I slowdredge into nothing while he draws Piledriver, Warchief, Siege Gang and I lose out of nowhere. I should have won that.
g3 was strange. He doesn't play Magic very often and so he misses to dispose my Bridges with his thousand Burnspells and basically donated me he win. I acutally didn't deserve to win THIs game, but on the other hand I shouldn't have lost the 2nd game.
2-1, 2-1-0Match 4 against Matteo Fragale with Ub DraincontrolDiceroll: Him.
He makes a very sad face when He decides to keep and I just throw my Serum Powder hand on the table. He then opend with Delta, Sol Ring, go. I Bazaar and drop Chalice 0 and pass the Turn. He plays Tinker -> Sphinx, I drop my 2nd Bazaar and can bash him for exactly 20 damage after subtracting Sphinx' block and lifelink ability.
1-0
g2 he opens with Needle on Bazaar and I open with the white Leyline. I do nothing. He plays a Confidant, I EOT discard Troll. He flips Hurkyl's Recall (18), fetches (17), attacks, drops a 2nd Confidant and passes the turn. I dredge into Moeba and some Bloodghasts and bring them online. He flips Ravenous Trap and Demonic Tutor (11), attacks with both Confidants. I do nothing and attack him with Moeba and the 2 Ghasts (6). In his upkeep he flips Gifts and Mana Drain (0).
2-0, 3-1-0Match 5 against Davide Marcotti with URg Fishg1 I get my Bazaar wasted but slowdredge into good stuff as UR Fish's clock consists of 1/1 creatures. Not very intimidating. I just have written down that a Primus that must have destroyed his mabanase killed him together with 4 tokens, 3 Bloodghasts and 1 Ichorid on the long run.
1-0
g2 I open with the white Leyline and he's pretty helpless against me. At one point he has a Goyf and a Lavamancer, I prepare to destroy Lavamancer at the cost of 1 Bridge. But he draws a 2nd one. SO I must get rid of them forst while I have a Goyf sitting in my neck. I drawstep-dredge Darkblast and hit a Moeba. In response he shots his 2nd Lavamancer with the first one to get rid of my Bridge. Nice! I darkblast the other one, activate Bazaar and hit some more Bridges. Tokens clog up the ground and I win due to his misplay.
2-0, 4-1-0Match 6 against Alexander Linzer with MUDI win the diceroll and drop a Bazaar and a Chalice 0. When I play my 2nd Bazaar on Turn 2 he just asks me "Meh, shall we just do g2 then? Wastes less time..." -> ok.
1-0g2 He mulligans to 5, but the mulligan came straight out of hell. He opened with Tormod, Sphere, go. I bazaar. He wastes Bazaar and drops a Metalworker. I do nothing. He drops a Lodestone Golem and I can just watch how I go down after he drops a Relic.
1-1
I open with Bazaar and Chalice 0. That's all I have noted down. I think that was the game where I therapied 2 Trikes for the win. I didn't see any hate in this game.
However, he wanted me to quote him: "I have to point out that I had a higher mulligan rate in this match than you, but YOU are the Ichorid. Strange

"
2-1, 5-1-0Match 7 against Giampiero Ronzo with MUDGiampiero "Jesse" Ronzo. Winner of Annecy last year. Duh.
g1 was strange, I had Bazaar active for a couple of turns and DR an early Primus to destroy his manabase, then spawn a Troll to get a big beatstick to get him down to 0 because he managed to get a Karn online and several Chalices to ensure that I'll bnever have a single Bridge.
"Well, you are an Ichorid... let's see if I can fuck you the next games". Definitely Giampiero Ronzo! =D
1-0
He starts with Wasteland, Relic, Crypt, go, I Bazaar, he wastes, drops a Golem... BLAAAAAAA
1-1
g3 was the sickest game I've ever played in Vintage so far. I bazaared, he Wastes and drops a Crypt and a Sphere. I dredge and drop a 2nd Bazaar and activate it. The stuff I dredge makes him sac the Crypt. He plays Wasteland and I lose my Bazaar. >_<
I beat him with a Bloodghast and play a City, he then goes Shop, Metalworker, go. I drop Petrified Field and tap it together with the City to destroy his Metalworker with Claim. He topdecks another Metalworker and plays a 3rd Wasteland on my tapped Peetrified Field. My hands were already under the table, ready to flip it over. But i then topdeck a 3rd Bazaar and dump stuff into my grave. He does nothing and I dredge very good stuff. My boardposition is 2 Moeba and 2 Zombies, if I keep my graveyard for the next turn I'll recurr 2 Ichorids and 2 Bloodghasts and crush him.
"A 3rd Bazaar!!! Well then, now I need a good card. Otherwise, you fuck me." He draws and kisses the topdecked card. "A very good card indeed!" - Relic of Progenitus.
OMGWTFLOLROFLXD
Well, I lose my graveyard and therefore I can't win. But he also can't with the Worker and the 2 1/1 Duplicants that ate 2 of my Moebas before. Timeout, extraturns, draw. There was no chance for me to win, so I'm fine with the draw.
But he's some badass mofo (in a positive way, that is)!

Beware if you should ever play against him!
1-1, 5-1-1Match 8 against Thomas Kleber with DredgeEveryone who has read Chapuza's in-depth analysis of Annecy knows that he is playing Dredge (he was best unpowered player in Annecy this year with it). We both keep a hand with Leyline. He opens with Dakmor Salvage I I do nothing, he has a Bazaar and digs through his deck while I draw nothing relevant. Then he activates Bazaar, discards chaff and Moeba, rops a 2nd land and a Bloodghast. I have nothing better to do and cast a Therapy on Bloodghast and hit 2! YAY! I then manage to topdeck my 2nd land and drop a Thug to block the Ghast.
He plays a Moeba, I play a Moeba, he attacks, I block. He plays a Moeba, I play a Moeba, he attacks, I block. He plays a Thug, I play a Thug, he attacks, I block. I then drop a Bloodghast, he does nithing. I attack. He does nothing. I play a Moeba and attack, he does nothing. I play a Thug, attack, he does nothing. I attack. He does nothing. I attack...
The mirrormatch it retarded, but this gave me a very oldchoolish feeling, I haven't played a mirror for aeons.
1-0
g2 we both open wihout Leylines and keep out Bazaar hand, but since he's on the play, he is one turn faster with everything despite having Powder'ed the FKZ away. I can get rid of my Bridges thanks to Therapies and Darkblast. Meh.
1-1
g3 I keep Bazaar and a land, he opens with Leyline. I Activate Bazaar and don't find Chain or Claim. He drops Bazaar and I topdeck Chain when I'm on 2 life, with 18 tokens facing me. He simply had everything.
1-2, 5-2-1Last Match against Rudy Gobbo with ZooWe sit down, shake hands and he asks me "You are at 16 points?" - "Yes." - "Me too. Uh... I play a Budget deck..." - "ok." (Translation: "I play a Budget deck, will you concede for me so I get the budget prizes?" - "No. Prepare to get vaporized!" ;D )
g1 I open with black Leyline, he trops a Taiga and Noble Hierarch. I drop Bazaar, he wastes it. I slowdredge and eventually get n tokens thanks to Ichorids and Bridges and the LotV.
1-0
g2 I slowroll things until I am able to Therapy him for Ravenous Trap. I miss. He reveals me Kataki and a Land. I tap Bazaar twice afterwards and win.
2-0, 6-2-1I end up being 23rd out of 210 ppl. It was surprising that I was just the 5th best unpowered player (I won a playset Flooded Strands), but I was very satisfied with how the tournament went. I also can't think of any mistakes I could have made except for dropping the wrong land and then getting slain by Blood Moon. I didn't see that coming.
But I still have to criticize one thing: When the top8 were played, they didn't announce that they will give away the prizes for the unpowered decks. So I just went over to the Judge station and asked the co-host of the tournament. He said that he called out names several times (they had no microphone or speakers or anything) and I didn't show up, so he already gave away the prize to th next best unpowered player. I must now pick 4 foil Orchards and be happy with it. I was like "no?!". Thomas Kleber ended up being 22nd and was also not marked on the standings, so I pointed out that he deserves a prize as well. I called Thomas and then the host said that the foil Orchards are now Thomas' and I have to take 4 foil Qasali instead then.
I complained and after 30 minutes of discussion the co-host managed to get back the prizes that were distrubuted incorrectly and so I still got my playset of Flooded Strands.
Well, that was the report of Milano as promised. My performance was okay for me, so I think I can publish this without any bad consciousness.

And well, I'm tired and just want to sleep in my own bed finally before I have to deal with serious reallife issues again tomorrow (I got qualified to study at University Heidelberg last week and now I have to deal with the bureaucratic nightmare that comes up).
Hope that this is a good read again.
And in case you ask me how I sideboarded because I didn't write it down: I sideboarded correctly. ;D
So long,
Daniel "Adan" Scherer
