Crucible of Worlds just keeps getting better and better.  I know we tend not to like these types of effects in Vintage, but is there a place for this guy in a Blue Shop deck?  With Crucible (or Welder if you want to go RU), you can negate his his disadvantage pretty easily.  Slaver maybe?

I can see it in Slaver, and specially Erayo affinity, it has great synergy with skullclamp, and then grand architect.

This guys seems really interesting.

None of the other ones in this cycle really power themselves up, but this one can chain a bunch of activations together, especially if you have two out. I can see this working really well in some sort of Welder/Will type deck.

Too bad they included "spell;" the interaction this could have had with artifact lands would've been powerful,.

I had a bomberman list a couple years back that included Confidants and Jotun Grunts in addition to Trinket Mage and Auriok Salvagers.  This might be better to include than Grunt.  Unless I'm reading this incorrectly, this allows you to cycle your deck with Salvagers + Lotus?  From here I guess you could find Yawgmoth's Will and replay your yard. 

I always hated Aether Spellbomb in that deck :/

I would probably look at it more in terms of discard-outlet effects.  Squee, Deep Analysis, Roar of the Wurm, Bloodghast, etc.

Might be broken with Sensei's Tops.

You could possibly bring back a variation of Sensei Sensei with this guy.  Helm of Awakening + Riddlesmith+ Top, draw your deck until you hit a Brainfreeze or other win condition.

You know, a few years ago this guy would have been a 1/1 and totally out of consideration, but as a 2/1 it changes the whole dynamic of how the card interacts with the board state.  I think he has a lot of potential the more I look at him.

The draw is a "may" so the "if you do" follows since it is an optional ability.  It only triggers if you draw.   But I'm not rules lawyer.  Someone smarter than me is going to have to explain how that works with Dredge and Uba Mask.

Dredge and Uba Mask are replacement effects for your draw.  If you use them, you didn't draw, so you won't have to discard.

Let's just start with that. No it doesn't. You filter through more cards after playing more spells, and between Spheres and Thorns, you shouldn't be able to rifle through as many spells as something more broken like storm or an infinite combo.

Are you guys going to fill up the deck with welders, riddlesmiths, crucibles AND robots? You are hyping this card so much but thats ok, I do that all the time, but take a step back and think about the fact that it doesn't do anything without and artifact in your hand. Whats this thing with crucible anyway, who cares about that card? Welder is a bit more scary but also conditional. Bazaar is free and draws 2 cards just by tapping. This guy needs to be cast. Then he has to NOT die. The you have to cast welder. Then Welder has to NOT DIE as well. Then you have to cast and artifact AND have some big robot in your hand. Sounds slowish to me...

Turn 1 welder followed by Riddlesmith could be an okéy opening but same can be said about T1:Welder followed by T2: Bazaar.

 I would love to see a hypothetical list from one of you guys.

Seems good in a long game, but slow at first.  Perhaps Rods instead of Serum Powders although you might need another mana source.
So maybe +1 Fetch, + 3 Rods,  -4 Powder.

EDIT:  Did some testing.  Fastbond allows some insanity with this list, but it is probably win more.   I had this game where Lotus allowed for 2xRiddlesmith.
Then turn 2 I dropped Uba and started going nuts drawing something like 9 cards counting Bazaar.  I had 2 more Bazaars in "hand" so with Fastbond things would have gotten just silly.  Dropping a Mox and then drawing to cards is fairly broken.  Again this is win more because at that point I had a solid board position anyway.

Nope. Golem only copies instant or sorceries, not welding. He's pretty ridonk with Welder.

RiddleSmith initially seems like "The Thirst For Knowledge" replacement to put stuff in grave for welding purposes, but then Gush and Frantic Search got unrestricted (also, Bazaar of Baghdad exists).

In Draft/Standard I have been comboing Riddlesmith with Grand Architect and Trinket Mage for massive artifact mana possibilities (Certarchs also help there).

Tapping blue guys to activate Mindslaver does seem kinda sexy.  Basically, anything involving Mindslaver in the maindeck is sexy.

That is where my Vintage Riddlesmith dreams have been going.
