Land
~ enters the battlefield tapped unless you control two or fewer other lands.
{Tap}: Add X or Y to your mana pool.

X & Y = Allied colors (I know there's a better way to say this, but can't think of it)

Is it just me or are these... not bad?

Obviously they're no substitute for actual duals, but for the budget-minded player it might not be a bad last-minute replacement when you're scrambling to get your deck together.

I had exactly the same thought.  These are a godsend to legacy and vintage budget players.  Legacy and vintage decks tend to curve out at 3 anyway, more being gravy, so these lands slow you down when you're into late game mode anyway.  Potentially better than the painlands because they probably won't cost you much in the long term.  Probably not as good as shocklands because they can't be fetched.

Painlands <<< SOM Lands <<< Shocklands <<< Dual Lands

I suspect they'll climb to 5 or 7 bucks in standard pretty quick.  Maybe even more.  And they'll have more staying power than, say, the M10 duals.

I agree with Painlands <<< SOM Lands <<< Shocklands <<< Dual Lands, so this land cycle won't have any impact on eternal Sad

Well if you needed Tundra/HallowedFountain/FloodedStrand 13 - 16, here you go.

Painlands <<< SOM Lands <<< Shocklands <<< Dual Lands

This doesn't make sense and you know it. Any vintage deck wants shuffle effects and if you play few colors, you can get away with very few duals. 2 duals, 10 fetchlands, 4 basics, 4 utility lands (roughly) makes for a solid, relatively affordable manabase. As long as the utility lands are not bazaars.

I'd rather play basics on that slot , or even city of brass

Yes yes yes Fetchlands are the key to a stable mana base.  I'm not suggesting anyone with resources to use Revised Duals and Fetchlands would touch these.  But they're good at what they do - making two colors of mana in the part of the game Vintage cares about.  Should help standard folk make the transition to the eternal formats if they like, and that is always something to encourage.

Shocklands don't see play in Vintage so I don't see any reason why these would be.  As far as Vintage is concerned, these are bad.

Your last point is a very good one. That said, these cheap duals are also a trap for aspiring vintage players. Earlier, I spent money aquiring painlands, because I thought duals and fetches were too costly. If I had a little bit of foresight or guidance I would have realized that those painlands would loose their playability after a while (because we gradually improve decks and manabases) and would end up costing me extra.

No one plays that either. For a reason.

Also, Cerebral Assassin ran painlands, not shocklands.

Yeah, these are cool and well designed and not vintage playable.
