Xtreme Games monthly Vintage tournament. We will be holding it on
Sunday October 17th, 2010.

We will be giving away a unlimited Mox Jet for first place guaranteed!

All other prizes based on participation.

11 AM SIGN UP 12 NOON START  We will break after round 2 for a 1/2 hour lunch, provided we have 5 or more rounds

Hope to see all of you there!

25/25/25 rule:
Vintage 25-proxy unsanctioned tournament
$0.25 for each proxy after 25
$25 entry

All proxies must follow these guidelines:

Please do not use the back of a magic card for a proxie!

There are two types of acceptable proxies. The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it. The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.

All proxies must have the following text neatly printed, using a extra fine point sharpie. Ball point pens may not be used:
• The full name of the card (no abbreviations or nicknames)
• Correct casting cost of the card including all colored mana symbols
• All relevant/game effecting text

When choosing what card to use as the base for an erased proxy players must follow these rules:
• The mana cost of the base spell must be the same as the card being proxied.
• The type of the card being proxied must be the same as the base card.
• The P/T of a creature being proxied must be the same as the base creature P/T
• When proxying a creature it may be difficult to find a creature where all characteristics match. In this case, mana cost is the most important, followed by the P/T, followed by the subtype. Any characteristics that do not match must be erased and corrected.
• The art box, card name, and text box must be totally erased. White out may not be used for this as it affects the stiffness of the card and may mark it.
• When adding text to the card do not use a ball point pen. A extra fine point sharpie is the best thing to use. A ball point pen can cause indentations on the card marking it.
• For clarity reasons, the use of cards with the new card frame is strongly encouraged

Expect me there.

I wonder how much gush we're going to see.
I'd like to play against something other than shops/dredge.

17 people--5 rounds, cut to top 4

1/2
Danny Friedman with MUD

1/2
Jason with MUD

3/4
Benjamin Carp with MUD

3/4
Fucktezz with Grow

It was
I lost to Jason in both the Swiss and the top 4.  I played a fairly standard MUD list.  I didn't metagame enough for Shops.  I should have devoted all 15 SB slots to MUD.  Seriously.  Also, I should have maindecked 4 Duplicants.

Round 1: Mox Opal Blue MUD
2-0

Round 2: Trygon Tezz
2-0

Round 3: Danny Friedman (MUD)
2-0 (pretty sure)

Round 4: Jason (MUD)
1-2
the 1 win was luck; he was basically playing the same list but just drew better all 5 games we played between Swiss and Top 4.  Clearly I'm doing something wrong.

Round 5: Gro or Tezz I think
2-0

Top 4: Jason with MUD
0-2

Benjamin Carp
Team ICBM
Black Thirteen

4 Lodestone Golem
4 Sphere of Resistance
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Tangle Wire
4 Chalice of the Void
3 Smokestack
2 Sculpting Steel
2 Crucible of Worlds
2 Karn, Silver Golem
1 Trinisphere
1 Duplicant
1 Wurmcoil Engine
1 Steel Hellkite

4 Mishra's Workshop
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Wasteland
2 Mishra's Factory
2 Ghost Quarter
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Pearl
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault

Sideboard:
4 Leyline of the Void
4 Leyline of Sanctity
2 Steel Hellkite
2 Ratchet Bomb
2 Relic of Progenitus
1 Triskelion

I just needed infinitely more for the mirror, and I needed to DRAW it.  We'll see what happens next time.  Unless something changes incredibly, Lodestone Golem will be restricted in either 3 or 6 months.  Gush is a non-entity.  Soly 0-2'd with it, and most of the other Gush players were crushed.  I can't see how anything non-Workshop is playable currently.

I was actually debating the possibility of Lodestone Golem restriction with some people today, while it would be ridiculous for them to restrict a creature, I would not be entirely too surprised.  He brings up that important element of fun and fairness that was thrown around in the Trinsphere days, a Lodestone on the play is insane, a Lodestone with something like a Chalice is game over.

"After these years of arguing I've conceded that Merchant Scroll in particular can be an exception to this rule because it is a card that you NEVER want to see in multiples, under any circumstances. Merchant Scroll can be seen as restricted in a way because should you have 2 in a hand, only one is really useful (that is, only one can get Ancestral)."

Ben is right about the shop meta.  I gambled on Drege not showing up, dropped down to 3 hate cards and had many monsters in the board for the shop mirrors.  Top 4 against Ben, Karn and Tangle Wires took it home, but the other three games it was all about having 14 bots to his 10 or 11.  As far as calls to restrict Golem, it doesn't seem necessary.  The same thing was said about Jace a month ago.

Round 1 Soly w/ Cobra Gush
2-0
Round 2 Larry w/ Trygon Tezz
2-0
Round 3 All-in-Red
2-1 (game 1 a first turn Blood Moon with Chalice for 0 and Mox Monky locked me out)
Round 4 Ben w/ MUD
2-1 (game 1 he drew more monsters, games 2 and 3 I did)
Round 5 Danny w/ MUD
I scooped him into top 4
Top 4 Ben
2-0
Finals Danny
Split

Round 3: Danny Friedman (MUD)
2-0 (pretty sure)

You won the die roll, then you won the first game, then I beat you game two, you won game 3 with first turn Wurmcoil Engine, turn two Karn, turn three Duplicant to deal with my turn two Duplicant on Wurmcoil followed by 2x Wasteland. It was unreal.

You got it 2-1.
Get it right. Wink
