Hello everyone

I've started playing aluren in legacy and now I'm thinking about "updating" it to a vintage level, there is however a question that remains:

What happens if Aluren is in play and your opponent has sphere of resistance  / lodestone golem in play? Do I have to pay 1 more for every creature that I put into play with Aluren?

I already checked the Q&A forum here and found a number of questions regarding Aluren and trinisphere, but I believe this is a different situation. Not?

greetings!

You would have to pay any additional costs to cast the creature via Aluren.  (You're casting it, not putting it into play).  Aluren allows you to cast the spell without paying the mana cost on that spell, not necessarily casting it for free.

When determining the total cost to cast a spell, you start with the mana cost.  Then you apply any alternate costs.  This includes Aluren's effect, evoke, flashback, the "Exile a blue card and pay 1 life" on Force of Will and various other similar abilities.  Then you apply any additional costs, such as kicker or replicate, or the "sacrifice an artifact" bit on tinker or shrapnel blast.  Then you apply any cost increases.  This is where Sphere of Resistance or Lodestone Golem figure in.  Then anything that reduces costs, such as Helm of Awakening or the various bannerets from Morningtide.  Then last comes Trinisphere.
