Hello Midwesterners! The last Vintage Meandeck Open was a great success, but we've waited too long (thanks to the intervening Legacy GP) to play tournament Vintage in Columbus Ohio! My bad. Let's correct that now! Here are the details: WHAT: VINTAGE! TournamentSwiss + Top 8. Entry is $20 PRIZES:CASH! 1st Place: 40% of Prize Pool 2nd Place: 20% of Prize Pool 3rd Place: 10% of Prize Pool 4th Place: 10% of Prize Pool 5th-8th: 5% of prize pool each Prize Pool will be 80% of entry fees! As long as there are 24 or more players, there will be a FREE single elimination side event will begin with X-1 round of swiss with a grand prize of $40 (which will come from the main prize pool). WHERE:The Soldiery 4256 N. High St. Columbus, Ohio 43214 If you need to car pool to Columbus, post your needs and we'll find someone whom you can travel with. I'll start a signup if necessary. PROXIES: UNLIMITED PROXIES will be permitted. There are THREE ways of making proxies: 1) The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it. 2) The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics. See: http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=291560 for more detaiils on how to do this. 3) the third is to print out all 75 cards, and slip the sheet of paper into each sleeve. If you do this, every card must be proxied. The first two methods are preferred. ALSO,Collector's Edition and International Edition cards will be legal for this tournament. If you intend on running CE or IE cards, you MUST: 1) use completely opaque sleeves, AND 2) Double Sleeve your card OR use a looser fitting sleeves where the cut of the corner of the card is not visible. Otherwise, you must replace your sleeves before the top 8. WHEN: Sunday, July 31, 2011The store opens at 11:30 AM. Registration starts at 12:30. Registration will close and the tournament begins at 1PM sharp. To save time, consider typing or writing up your decklist ahead of time. FINALLY, don't miss our post-game chowdown at Thurmans. Put the address in your GPS so you can get there after the tournament! http://www.thethurmancafe.com/Don't miss on eating this: This tournament will be great fun, good laughs, and amazing times. I hope to see serracollector, the Moore Brothers, and Paul Kim, among others. Please post if you are coming so we can try to make sure everyone has a ride. Also, be sure to try to make the July 2nd touranment in Sandusky. This is tournament will be the perfect chance to warm up before Gencon. So don't miss it! We promise not to publish decklists until after Gencon, so bring your tech!!!! See you then! Stephen Menendian

Can't wait for this, Vintage back in C Bus! Thanks Stephen. Anyone looking to test/play Vintage/Legacy let me know. I'm a local mage, living in New Albany, bout 20 min from Soldiery. I've got many staples from Vintage/Legacy including Power. It's so hard to find places to play anymore, besides FNM. Message me or email: greekpimp@insight.rr.com

Yes, we were aware of that conflict. We don't think it will affect more than a few people; and there were no other available dates before Gencon aside from July 2, and conflict with the Sandusky tournament. So it was either accept that conflict, or not have a tournament before Gencon.

There's no distraction which can stop a Jedi from eradicating the Sith.

I hope to see serracollector, the Moore Brothers, and Paul Kim, among others. Please post if you are coming so we can try to make sure everyone has a ride. I plan on making this. It would be cool if I could carpool with someone (HINT HINT CJ). I drive a lot for work and usually to go to tournaments now that my local friends have dispersed. Looking forward to playing cards with you guys.

Hmm, haven't played vintage in some time. Still have over 350 proxies printed specifically for these events xD I'd like to make it to this, Steven. I'll have 3 Akron folks in tow if I do!

They shall be the finest Team, these warriors who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mold them, and in the furnace of vintage forge them. They will be of iron will and merciless demeanor. With razor sharp sleeves shall I outfit them and with the most powerful decks will they be armed. They will be untouched by mana flood or mulligans, no Tendrils will touch them. They will have approach, composure and a voracity that no opponent can best. They are my scythe against Meandeck. They are the Defenders of Vintage. They are Team Serious and they shall know no fear.

I believe The Dark Sith Lord himself, Stephen Q. Menendian is sending his henchmen to execute order 66 at the SCG open in Pittsburgh.

Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Kevin Cron will be in attendance, I believe. Hopefully, others will as well.

Twaun is bringing a few people from Cleveland and CJ and I are carpooling down.
You know, the word "Darth" looks like a compressed version of "Dark Lord of the Sith". Dar(k)(Si)th.
On an unrelated note, I'm buying into the format to see if you're right about feeling more invested and maintaining interest as a result. I've already bought a Time Vault and Timetwister and I'm looking everywhere for an Imperial Seal.
I've pretty much played every format competitively at some point except Standard (go figure) and after coming full circle, Vintage is the most fun format, in my opinion, to play. Everyone in the area who can make it should make an effort to support Vintage at the Open. It'll be a blast. Hope to see everyone there.

The Darth title is more than just a symbol of power; its a claim of supremacy. Its used by those Dark Lords who have sought to enforce their will on the other Masters. Its a challenge — a warning to bow down or be destroyed.

Twaun, are you bringing out the Asian Hip Hop Battle Suittm? It may be needed against the combined power of Darth Menendian and Darth Cron.
