PRIZE UPDATED - Mox Ruby has been added since we have received quite a bit of confirmations!!!!!!
VINTAGE in 2011!!!
As days go by, The Players Guild improves. And so does the environment and the events!!! I encourage and would love everyone to come out and see the layout Brandon Brown and I have created for the store, as well as check out the events we run weekly now. Our new hours, going from being open twice per week are more than doubling, as our regular hours are Monday through Friday 3pm - 9pm, as well as open on Saturdays for big time events!!! So with this being said, I am proud to introduce the Council Open #7 and ask you to come support The Players Guild and The Council Open!!!! Though the turnout may be low, there are not many dates to choose from in the month of July, but we want to show we are going to provide monthly vintage tournaments regardless of the turnout. The prize support is always subject to improve as turnout does. I love giving out prizes that would be better than what is listed. So let's do just that this month!!!!
When: Saturday July, 23 2011 Start time: 12:00 pm (registration begins at 11:00 am)
The Host: Shawn Griffiths (kameli0n) What: Unsanctioned Vintage Event (Decklists required) Swiss rounds with cut to top 8
Where: The Players Guild Columbia Mall Columbia Mall Drive Bloomsburg, PA 17815 (570) 640-6408
Fees: 25 dollar entry fee (10 proxies allowed, up to 5 more can be purchased at $1 each) Prize Support: First: Unlimited Mox Ruby (Guaranteed at 16 Players) Second: TBA Third: TBA Fourth: TBA Fifth: TBA Sixth: TBA Seventh: TBA Eighth: TBA NOTE: Everyone, please keep in mind, second through eighth prize is subject to improve. Under and over 16 players will be scaled to reflect attendance. So keep in mind, if attendance rises, so do the prizes. If attendance gets high enough, there is always the potential for first prize to improve as well!!!! Please everyone, show your support to the vintage community and new ownership of The Players Guild, come out and be part of another great event. The Council Open in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania!!! FYI!!!!! Council members should do their best to attend!!!
As always, I will be set up on location as a dealer for all your buying, selling, and bartering needs. Hope to see our previous champs and all challengers there!!!
Everyone! Do your best to attend as always, come for the awesome occasion, or attend your very first Council Open event in Bloomsburg, PA! And as always....
COUNCIL MEMBERS BE HERE!!!!!!!

Not to be the downer, but $25 for a Library as first place is pretty weak. Long Island runs tourneys every month (if not more often) with $15 entry and the prize the same as yours, with 12 people playing to guarentee it.

Thank you for commenting. I can always charge less at the actual venue when people come. The plan is actually to not give a library out at all. If enough people come as always, the prize will move to a mox as always. If 12-15 people only show up, people will be informed at the venue that the price is lower. In my opinion, it is easier to tell people that prize support is now better, or that the entry fee is now lower, than to spring on people the day of the event that "Hey! More people showed up than expected! So now everyone has to pay more money!" Just my opinion, but if everyone feels they would prefer a lower price be listed we'll go that way. Thanks!

We are aware. As stated earlier, there are not many dates to choose from in the month, we apologize for double booking, but we intend to hold monthly vintage tournaments for our community and our vintage faithfuls. With our otherwise busy schedule, we are once again going to hold the tournament regardless of how many show up, and we will be offering the Mox Ruby as a possible prize. Thank you to everyone who posted their questions, comments, or concerns. Good luck to everyone and hope to see some of you here!!!!!

I would think that before holding a new vintage tournament or tournament series, one would follow the proper channels and check with existing tournament series for dates and schedules as has been the respectful norm in the past. Maybe someone should inform Baltimore that they are double booking?

The reality of it is that there just aren't enough weekends to go around, especially in this region. It comes down to the individual TOs to choose when they would like to run their event. Unfortunately, sometimes two events will be on the same day. Instead of worrying about it, or changing it, be happy that we here in the Eastern US are fortunate enough to have two great events to choose from on a given Saturday. -Nick P.S. Darryn (the TO for the Baltimore event) did go out of his way to announce his event a full two months in advance, in order to avoid scheduling conflicts. That's respectful in my book.

As stated earlier, unfortunately, events can tend to be scheduled on the same day as there are usually only 4 saturdays in a month. When several people intend to hold monthly events, these dates will conflict. The bloomsburg event, and this particular baltimore event, are over 3 hours away from one another. Some people do not wish to drive to baltimore, and some people do not wish to drive to bloomsburg. With the other local PA TO's having priority over the bloomsburg tournaments, I usually tend to hold my tournaments at the same time as ptq's due to lack of an adequate amount of dates in the month. This date is ptq, and as I wait for Blue Bell and NYSE to set the dates of their events out of respect, this is the date that was available in the month. I do not fault anyone for choosing another event over the bloomsburg event, and all in all hope that everyone gets the most of the vintage community as we TO's are holding these tournaments for the people to enjoy. Everyone, have fun, play magic, and repeat.
Thank you.

I think that everyone should be like Myriad Games and plan out and announce every event until December.
Anyways, I will be there this weekend.

That's pretty easy to pick random weekends for events when you don't give a shit about conflicting with other events in the area. PTQ schedules don't get released for the year, they get scheduled for each season, so listing events from now until December = 100% fail (at least to those TOs who set up as a vendor at PTQs)
