More Vintage in California.  Be excited!  This is hopefully the first of many and larger vintage and legacy tournaments at the shop and the start of a more active eternal scene in the area.

Droms Comics Eternal Series
Drom's Comics & Cards
231 G Street, Suite 4
Davis, Ca 95616
(530) 758-2280

Saturday, November 5
Vintage Format
Store opens and registration starts at 1pm, play begins at 2.
Decklists are required.

Entry: $20

Prizes:  1st Revised Underground Sea
          2nd Revised Badlands

Prizes will be scaled up based on attendance.

The tournament will be Unlimited Proxy.  Proxies can be made by writing on basic plains or world championship proxy cards, by erasing and modifying a card similar to the card being proxied, or by making paper prints of all the cards in the deck and inputting them in front of sleeved cards.

Hope to see you there.  Special prizes will be given to the first east coast players to show up!

I PM'd just about everybody in the NorCal vintage scene about this tourney (except Gambit and BC who will read this regardless Smile ).

If anyone wants to play, it's unlimited proxy.  So if you want a deck, I can hand you a deck. (if you give me advance notice, I can custom build your list, otherwise, I have 5-6 extra decks ready to go at all times with lots of proxies.)

Wow. That's unexpected to have something like this so close to home. I should be there.

Yeah, I've been pushing for a vintage tournament for awhile and it finally came through.  Not enough of it goes on in Davis, and the unlimited proxy makes it super accessible.

I always have a Vintage deck with me when I'm out at the card shops in Davis, but so far I've never been able to find any Vintage games (except with BC, but that's a given. I guess in retrospect, I have played a few games with Lotushead once when we were waiting for a Legacy event to start). I hope there is reasonable interest in this. Drom's held a couple of Legacy tournaments in the last year, but they always ended up only being eight man (and once we had to have the guy running the shop play just so we had eight).

Well you'll have at least 2 people from the berkeley area, probably 3-4.

Friendly bump. Vintage in NorCal. Davis on 1-80 between Sacramento and San Francisco. Closer to the Sacramento side. Unlimited Proxy.

Hey all!

I don't post on TMD much, but I play T1 almost every month in the Midwest (Xtreme Games in IL). Needless to say the best format ever. I am in San Jose for training and brought a deck with me, hoping to be able to make it to this. I am sharing a car with a few other dudes out here for training as well, so it may be hard to take it for a whole Saturday. Is there anyone near San Jose that is going who may be possibly able to give me a ride? I'd be happy to pay for gas!

I'm no East Coaster, but I was just at Waterbury  Wink

if you can get a lift down here (and have some gas money as backup), I am positive I can get you back in San Jose.

Thanks for the response. I'll see what I can do. Getting out there is going to be difficult. I am going to look into some public transportation options. I really want to make this happen. If anyone is traveling to the tournament from the San Jose area, a ride would be immensely appreciated (of course I will chip in for fuel costs). Thanks all!

We're sure this is actually happening, right? Their website says nothing about it at all (despite having a past event from Oct 24th listed). I'll try to go in and ask tomorrow, but is it really too much to ask that they put it on their calendar on the website? It's almost like they don't want people to show up.

@stripminer: Sorry I can't help getting you up here (as I'm just a few miles from the venue), but good luck. Hope to see you (along with a good sized turn out) on Saturday.

The Drom's website is terrible, but they announced it on Facebook and I haven't seen any indication that it isn't happening.  I'm going.

I guess they just don't want those of us not on Facebook to show up. Got it.  Rolling Eyes

I was actually being facetious, but I thought I checked their FB and didn't see any mention of it. I guess one just can't see anything unless they are logged in (and therefore have an account). Oh well, I guess not being on FB makes me a persecuted minority. Such is life. But I'm still planning to crash the party anyway.

I've got at least 7 extra decks built for people to borrow if they want in.
