On November 21 2011 at Xtreme Games in Lindenhurst, IL (USA), a Vintage showdown was held. A car full of players from the Ohio chapter of Team Serious drove out, and a number of local players from throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana all made the trek, giving us 26 players in all, duking it out for the cash money. Thanks go out to Xtreme Games owners Eric and Shannon for hosting yet another great Vintage tournament, and continuing to support the community when few others do. Props also go out to Jimmy Lord of the Cats McCarthy for awesome audio-video coverage. Check out the Top 8 results and decklists, a metagame breakdown, and a video roundup after the jump! http://www.eternal-central.com/?p=2437

Watched most of the games online while this took place, thank you for that!

I hope no one closely watched my feature match against Soly in round 1. Game 1 I smash his silly Oath of Druids deck, then game 2 I literally make 7 or 8 eight errors that I can detect while rewatching it on camera, which has to be close to a record for incompetence in a single game while playing MUD, and directly contribute to me losing and letting him keep it close. Then in game 3 which wasn't recorded for some reason I crush him again. But game 2 is definitely embarrasing, and me thinking at the time that Thorn of Amethyst apprently did something different definitely lost me that game.

Yeah I too embarrassed to watch my round. I just kept counting the mistakes in my head and it was bad.

Isn't there some major puntage going on in the 2nd round of the finals? The oath player could have won.

This is great stuff, watching Vintage is terrific, and to say I love the two decks in the finals is an understatement.

Yeah watching it I was like, ok he's gonna flip Elesh Norn right here and win. Instead... Blightsteel? Oh well.

I play 3 Demons. Two were in my hand, and I had boarded out the third. At that point there was no way to win if I couldn't randomly draw Brainstorm, which I did not.

It was impossible to see in the stream that you had in hand the absolute worst possible scenario for you. Bad breaks! For streaming you almost need a recap of what happens and explanation of what was in hand.

We watching the same game cause ben gets therapied namening force and reveals his hand of two demons and some other cards.

I had pretty terrible draws in the finals, and I should have boarded Leylines or more Needles or something, I guess. I still brought in a ton of stuff but just never drew it.
