Hey all, After years of drafting and editing, I have FINALLY finished my book. Some of you made helpful suggestions in other forums regarding things my wizards could do in battle. While I didn't actually incorporate many of those suggestions, the discussion helped me to reflect more on my own world of magic and the restrictions and possibilities therein. That forum helped get me through a major mental road block...so thanks to all who helped. With that said, I'd love for all of you to help support my book and spread the word. The book will soon be for sale in all formats through self-publication and, with luck pending, be picked up by a publishing house and mass marketed. Nicely done.
I tried participating in this year's NaNoWriMo and I barely made it to 27k before the end of the month. It's a big time investment to write a book; congratulations on that accomplishment as an end unto itself.

Hey all, There has been a lot of headway as far as finalizing the book. It now has a professionally designed cover and buzz about the book is spreading. Now for the hard part - funding self-publication. I have developed a project on kickstarter to help get the ball rolling and hope that some of you might be interested in helping. At the very least, tell everyone you can so someone might want to help out. My goal is to turn proceeds from this funding project into payments for startup costs (ISBN, copyright registry, etc.) and most importantly FREE books to give to libraries and schools. This helps get the book on the shelves and gets people to read and spread word about my novel. At the very least it gives school-age kids a great fantasy book to read! I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.

Since I forgot to mention it earlier, big grats to you on this. My father's second book just recently went to print, and he'd been working getting published for probably over a decade now. I've seen a bit of the effort it takes, and yeah... I'm glad I'm not writing a book, heh.

Thanks Delha! Yeah, writing a book is certainly a task...but when you are doing what you love, it's not a chore. I could't imagine someone who isn't an author at heart writing a novel. Publishing is probably as hard, or harder, than writing the book. Just getting someone to return an email or read an excerpt is like pulling teeth. Congrats to your dad as well! Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment. If I don't sell a single copy, I'm happy I made it to this point (but I do hope I sell a lot of copies ). |

It's been a month since I posted in this, so I don't want to "necro" it...but at the same time, a new topic would seem superfluous since it is regarding the original topic. I just want to take a moment to thank all of the fans and supporters on TMD. My book has sold 100 ebooks in this month alone and over 150 books total since it published on April 15. I know some people from TMD have supported my work, and I wanted to say thanks.
