I'm fairly new to these forums but I would like to open a discussion about this recent list which won a big event.

First off, I'm a Panther player. However, the recent shift in the meta makes Panthers (the card itself) not viable due to the rise of creatures that can just trade with it, and you end up losing that bargain (Panther being blocked by a Flashed Snapcaster for example). This deck basically drops the bad panthers, and with it gives up a little bit of Aggro, for some stability and late game bombs via Forgemaster. Due to the nature of Forgemasters, the deck is then forced to drop Null Rods and subsequently become much weaker to Null Rods as well (a 3/5 beater is nothing to laugh at though).

It would be awesome to hear from Mr. Forino, if he's on TMD. Most of my questions are aimed at his board though, such as why Tormod's Crypt and not Grafdigger's when it serves a dual purpose as it has some splash hate against Oath (Edited to add: NVM, forgot about the library to play aspect), and I'm also wondering about the Ensnaring Bridges as well.

Feel free to tell me I'm wrong if I am regarding my observations though.

T. Crypt does not interfere with your Forgemaster.

Re: Cage

Total brainfart on my part. Haha

Perhaps a 1-of to tutor for it? Well it can be sacced to Forgemaster too if it comes to it. Also, what happens if my opponent has a Cage in play, then I Forgemaster for Phyrexian Metamorph copying a Non-creature artifact, let's say a Tangle Wire (assuming I have 1 in play and the rest in the graveyard and that's my only way to win), would that play be legal?

Rarely will that be a good idea, because in the matchups you sb grave hate in, you're gonna need it to stick.

No.  Metamorph is a creature card in the library, so it can't ETB.  The ETB replacement effect happens as part of the ETB, which Cage stops.

Regarding the cage, I think its okay in the board. Against Dredge, Grafdigger's is so much stronger than Tormod's Crypt moreso when you combine a couple of spheres, he's gonna be locked out whereas Tormod's Crypt can be Ancient Grudged from the graveyard. GC - Chewers as answers as opposed to TC - Chewers and Grudges as answers. Also when you count it as 4 additional slots for Oath, that just seals it for me.

Hey all, I wanted to see if I could get some assistance with side boarding with this deck. I checked around but couldn't find anything. I am new to this build and i am thinking about picking up the deck and needed some expert advice. We can use this build from a recent top 8 in regards to side boarding:

1 Black Lotus
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Pearl
1 Sol Ring
3 Phyrexian Revoker
3 Sphere of Resistance
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Tangle Wire
1 Trinisphere
4 Lodestone Golem
3 Phyrexian Metamorph
4 Kuldotha Forgemaster
1 Duplicant
2 Steel Hellkite
1 Sundering Titan
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Mishra’s Factory
4 Mishra’s Workshop
4 Wasteland

SB:

4 Grafdigger’s Cage
3 Relic of Progenitus
2 Ratchet Bomb
2 Crucible of Worlds
1 Witchbane Orb
1 Batterskull
1 Duplicant
1 Wurmcoil Engine

Which cards would you bring in/out in the key matchups such as Dredge, Shops, Oath, Combo, Control, Aggro Control, and Aggro? Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

My build is slightly different to accommodate Personal preferences, but it is this maindeck, -1 Revoker , -1 Hellkite, + 1 Mana Vault, + 1 Sphere of Resistance. These changes ensure more lock and I think 2 maindeck Hellkites is too many. As for my sb, it is 3 Cage, 3 Tormod's, 2 Wurmcoil, 2 Duplicant, 2 CoW, 1 Hellkite, 1 Metamorph, 1 Battlesphere. My changes are mainly preference, I want 4 metamorphs for the mirror and Oath as well as the 3 Duplicants. I also bring in the cages against Oath and Dredge. Also against Dredge I bring in Tormod's Wurmcoils the Hellkite and the Metamorph since Metamorph kills bridges. Against fish I bring in CoW as well as Wurmcoils and Duplicants, the Hellkite and Metamorph as well. I think that pretty much sums it up, hope I gave some insight.
