I was on the fence for a while, but I'm officially committed, as I've just purchased my badge for GenCon 2012.
If you're heading out to GenCon this year, and it's your first time, DO NOT PICK UP YOUR BADGE IN THE WILL CALL LINE. Seriously. Get there at the wrong time and you'll have several thousand people waiting in the same line.
Also, while I'm not exactly ready to participate in a triathlon, I brought bottled water, granola bars and Cheerios last year, and I was very glad that I did. The food was expensive, but I was more concerned that it felt like everything within walking distance was fried, or otherwise looking to send me off with an early heart attack.
Who else is going? Anybody up for some team v. team matches this year?

I just got approval for the time off and will be getting in on Wednesday. Signed up for the Vintage Champs (even though I'm rusty as heck) and planning on trying to play in Limited events to qualify for the Gen Con Championships on Sunday when I scrub out.
Planning ahead!
Also doing Hickman's Killer Breakfast and will find a good seat for the Collectible auction on Friday and Charity auction on Saturday. Love me an auction!
If anyone is driving in and does not have a hotel booked yet, I have an extra bed at the Hampton Inn East that is available. It's ~6 miles away from the convention center so it involves a drive and parking each day but it was available and $84 a night. Open to anyone if you are interested.

I too will be attending GenCon this year, and it will be my first time participating in the Vintage Champs, or any Vintage tournament for that matter so I am pretty excited!

I'll be there, as per usual. Any TMD'ers that will be there Wednesday night: let's grab a beer.

Pretty much every single vintage Wu-mage from Cleveland will be arriving at GenCon Wednesday night. Just look for Yangtime tossing out $100 bills like candy at a parade.

So you get a badge to get in, or is the badge for the Vintage event? Where do you get the badge so you dont have to wait in a 1k line??? Also, any other good tips for first timers?

A badge is just your "ticket" into the event, your handstamp if you will. Generally you wear it around your neck with a lanyard, since they have people checking for it at the entrance to major areas. http://www.gencon.com/2012/indy/cs/registration/default.aspx

I've never been, but I assume that the Vintage event is non-proxy. Can anyone confirm/deny that? The site doesn't seem to be the easiest to navigate, any links with that info would be much appreciated.

I got an email a few days ago that my badge had just been FedEx'd. Looking forward to getting it, and not waiting in that absurd line again.

If you went through USPS like I did it will come in a white envelope with the GenCon logo on the front.
Fedex will just come in a Fedex envelope.

Neat, mine was foxed. That's cute. Mine was delivered by a dragon, no big deal. I would be interested in doing some Vintage team 3 v. 3. Me, Mastriano, and a ringer to be named later vs. the world.

If you guys manage to organize a Meandeck vs ECW Vintage three-v-three, is there any way it could be streamed? That would be awesome.
