So with GenCon just a short while away I'm interested to see who everyone thinks will make the Top8 this year at Vintage Champs.  Feel free to post other names if you think I've missed anyone and I'll edit the poll.

Is there some reason people think Owen might even play at vintage champs this year?

My picks: (No particular order)

Nick Detwiler
Matt Elias
Mark Hornung
Josh Potucek
Ryan Glackin
Stephen Menendian
Paul Mastriano

the 8th person you ask?

...myself of course  Wink

In all seriousness though, if Owen plays, i would put him in my list too.

Justin Kohler and Shawn Griffiths need to be up there.

GenCon will go through Pennsylvania this year again.

New York begs to differ.

Either way, it's going to be a great tournament...

I voted for Steve, Demars, Hornung, Mastriano, and Coss. I think there will be at least 3 people not on this list, and I think there's a fair chance one of them will have their deck stolen before the top 8.

Is anyone from CT going?  I was under the impression that with you and Ray out, nobody was making it, though I hadn't heard about Scott Hughes.

Are you sure vroman won't draw into 9th, or rage quit the format again after an opponant plays tinker again this year? Lol

Vroman's not going this year.  Not because of rage quitting (which is not in his character), but because he has his own business that takes a lot of his time, and he's currently running for sheriff of St. Louis: http://www.unpopularideasclub.com/2012/06/vote-vroman/

I'm surprised that Kevin Cron isn't even on the list.  He is at the top of my list of players likely to top eight this event.

What's the schedule for Vintage events, and where will the live stream be, does anyone know?

I really hope they get some decent commentators on the air this year -- last year they a. weren't familiar with the format at all, and b. had almost no respect for it -- by which I mean, not that they mocked it or considered it foolish necessarily, just that they didn't seem interested at all in trying to meet the format for what it is and unfold that truth for viewers, i.e. the main job a commentator is charged with.

I'm not sure they're going to do coverage based on my conversations with the GGS Live guys.  I agree that there were some issues with the coverage last year, which is why I volunteered to do coverage this year.  I'm going to follow-up again today but I don't have high hopes.

Update as of this morning is "There is an outside shot that we still cover it".  So I guess my advice would be, if you're not going and want coverage, email GGS Live and let them know.  I think the challenge is that there are competing events they want to cover in more popular formats.

Emailed.

Would be a shame if they can't even show the 1 big vintage event for the year.

It's a shame that the rest of the Magic community, really, couldn't care less about the format.

Sounds like GGSLive is commited to MWC coverage.

Does anyone know if we can somehow get a 3rd party to stream this, and if Pastimes would be okay with it?
