Welcome to the Open Series: Los Angeles at Stan Lee’s Comikaze!  Here you will have the chance to win over $20,000 in prizes and qualify for the 2012 Invitational over the course of two fun-filled days of Magic.

Eric Deschamps
Eric Deschamps is both a sci-fi/fantasy illustrator and a video game concept artist. For the past decade Eric has worked with a diverse list of clients including publishing, video game and advertising companies.
His artwork has been featured on Magic cards such as: Celestial Colonnade, Elbrus the Binding Blade/Withengar Unbound, Garruk Relentless/Garruk the Veil-cursed, Jin-Gitaxias Core Augur, Koth of the Hammer, Lightmine Field, Mortarpod, Tamiyo the Moon Sage and Venser the Sojourner.

Michael Hayes
Artist Michael Hayes from San Diego has had his art featured on Magic Cards since the Magic 2012 set.  Some cards of note are: Vish Kal Blood Arbiter, Reckless Wair/Merciless Predator, Mind Sculpt and Civilized Scholar/Homicidal Brute.

Howard Lyons
Howard began his career studying illustration with artists such as Don Seegmiller, James Christensen and Greg Olsen. Over the past 13 years he has worked in the video game industry as an Art Director and as a concept artist and freelance illustrator for clients such as Wizards of the Coast, Blizzard Entertainment and Electronic Arts.
His artwork has been featured on Magic cards such as: Basilisk Collar, Bojuka Bog, Cloudshift, Mana Leak (M12), Rings of Brighthearth, Sign in Blood, Time Reversal, Vivid Grove and Wall of Denial.

Eric Claar (Indianapolis, IN)

Registration begins at 8 AM, and ends ten (10) minutes before the event is scheduled to start. All event registration is cash only. Any player who wants to enroll after registration has ended will be able to do so, but will receive a round one match loss. Players arriving after round two has been paired will not be able to enroll in the tournament.

Judges interested in working at this event, including uncertified judges (L0), should submit an application at

Judge certification for level one (L1) and advancement to level two (L2) is available at this event; interested candidates should make arrangements with Nicholas Sabin at at least two weeks prior to the event.

 Here’s how you can qualify for a Invitational tournament:
* Finish in the Top 8 of a Standard or Legacy Open
* Finish in the Top 8 of a Classic Series
* Win a Draft Open
* Gain 20 Open Points
* Win an Invitational Qualifier
* Top 2 a Super Invitational Qualifier
* Top 4 an Elite Invitational Qualifier
* Regularly Contribute to

Buy, sell and trade with America’s largest Magic the Gathering retailer!  Before the event, you can place an order on and have it brought to the event.  At the event itself, will also have a massive dealer booth set up all weekend long.

Although trading is both allowed and encouraged, please note that the following things are not permitted at this event:

-Buying/selling cards with anyone except for our authorized dealer(s)
-Soliciting to buy/sell cards elsewhere
-Advertising without receiving permission from’s on-site Event Manager
-Offering to “alter” cards in exchange for some form of compensation
-Utilizing an excessive amount of space when trading
-Using suitcases, handcarts, luggage carts, etc. for the purpose of transporting excessive amounts of trade stock.

Please note that failure to obey these rules may result in all involved parties being both removed from the event without refund, and banned from attending future events.

From 110 NORTH, transition to the 10 WEST
Exit immediately from the LEFT lane to PICO Blvd.
The PICO off-ramp becomes L.A. Live Wy.

From 110 SOUTH, exit at OLYMPIC Blvd.
LEFT at bottom of ramp onto BLAINE.

10 From the East:
From 10 WEST, transition to the 110 NORTH (Downtown).
EXIT at PICO Blvd.

10 From the West:
From 10 EAST, exit at GRAND Ave.
Turn LEFT on OLIVE St.

From the Los Angeles International Airport(LAX):
Take the Century Boulevard exit to the Century Freeway (105) East.
Take the Harbor Freeway (110) North to the Santa Monica Freeway (10) West.
Exit at Pico Boulevard and proceed northward.

From the Burbank Airport:
Exit the airport via Empire Avenue.
Turn left on Hollywood Way (note direction sign to the Golden State Freeway (5)   South at Empire and Hollywood Way Intersection)
Take the Golden State Freeway (5) South to the Harbor Freeway (110) South.
Exit at Olympic Boulevard.
Turn left at the bottom of the off-ramp onto Blaine St.
Turn left on 11th Street.

MetroLink From Union Station:
Take the Metro Red Line.
Exit at 7th Street then transfer to the Metro Blue Line (Long Beach).
Exit at Pico Boulevard Station.
Then walk one block west to Figueroa Street.

Commuter Express Commuter Express from Downtown Los Angeles:
Take route 413 - From Temple/Hill (Civic Center) to 11th /Figueroa Street (LACC).

From the Long Beach Airport:
Exit the airport via E. Donald Douglas Drive.
Turn right on N. Lakewood Blvd.Take ramp onto (405) Freeway North toward Santa Monica.
Take the Harbor Freeway exit onto (110) Freeway going north toward Los Angeles.
Take the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and exit toward Pico Blvd.
Continue on L.A. Live Wy.
Turn right on West Pico Blvd.
Turn left on South Figueroa Street. Arrive at 1201 South Figueroa Street on the left.
