On Tuesday, for example, a Black Lotus Magic card was listed on eBay for $100,000. Police estimated a Black Lotus card belonging to Dugas at $10,000.

Yeah, way to make your research guys...

This sucks.  Lets reprint everything so people can just play the game and not have to worry about hauling large sums of money with them.

For the first time in about eight years I had to travel to a Grand Prix alone last weekend.  The entire time I felt paranoid about my stuff, knowing that every year the prices spiral out of control is another year we get closer to someone being violently robbed for their collection.  Years ago I remember joking around with other dealers that "there's probably a million dollars in cards in this room."  Now, there are literally tens of millions.  It's only a matter of time before something terrible happens at an event.  I met my friend at the event and I felt much better knowing that he has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, which he did.  Scary stuff.

My condolences to Mr. Dugas's family and friends.  This is just shocking.
