So BC scheduled this event, so that we could HAVE an event before getting too swamped in the holidays.  Also, a PTQ took away some of our players, but Vintage was still played today!

EDIT: I could not play in this event, as I had to work from 1-2:30. But I sponsored a player to pilot my deck, (unchanged since last tourney), in my stead.

After 4 rounds of swiss and cut to top 4:

David Ochoa (Webster - Snapcaster control) vs Frankie Mach (Bob Snapcaster control) 2-0
Adam Telleen (Aahz - Dredge) vs Ryan Devine (UWG Noble Fish) 2-0 I think

Finals: Webster vs Aahz 1-2

Adam finally wins 1st prize!

Lists soon, and pics.  I took vids of semi-finals and finals, but will upload them later.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUy8xqNyQH8
Semifinals games. Frankie vs Ochoa with bigass counterwar turn, filmed simulaneously with Adam VS Ryan (dredge vs it seems unprepared deck). Enjoy. 24 minutes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWriPCnpwI8
G1 of Finals (Adam Dredge vs Ochoa Snap Control). Typical G1 dredge game, but nice banter from those watching.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05X6FvEwjhg
G2 of finals: Spoiler alert, there is a game 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0th0F1S7Hek
G3: How it ended.

Lemme know if you like these videos. They are easy to do, but taking pics is other option. Lemme know what TMD prefers.

Stephen Menendian doing something probably pretty complicated with his Oath/Burning Wish deck.

Frankie getting MD duressed by The Ocho. Actually, it might be Ocho revealing his busted hand to Frankie's Duress.

Cody's golden locks vs Frankie's proxy mox

Ryan Devine (Potato) vs Derek Clawson (my proxy player piloting my shop deck at my expense, as I could not play in tourney)

BC violating Luudes personal bubble. or maybe the opposite.

Jeffthefob's return to Vintage! vs Smemmen

Michael Lewis hates the fucking shit out of Shop decks, but loves eternal formats enough to keep coming back for more Lodestone Beats. Smile

I believe this is Smemmen's Mind's Desire for last 7 cards in his deck after ballsy Demonic Consulation for Lotus Petal.

Brainzzz!

@Potato Bitch play bringing Trygon Predators to my turf. Bitch play.

Lewis- Love this game, fuck it, g3 for fun.

That blue "make a dude into a 3/3 ape" is Frankie's Ancestral Recall proxy. He has an Ancestral Recall, but it's worth too much money to haul around. Maybe Gencon someday. 7 more proxies need to be acquired

More G1 Braiiiinssszzzz!!!!!

I don't know what is happening here, but at least Michael isn't facing shops!

So nobody is gonna play nothin' - especially Derek who can't draw a threat.

Nice job Adam!
I played Adam Rd. 1 and jumped out to a quick lead with a turn 2 Tinker into Voltaic Key with Mana Crypt being my victim after it cast Time Vault for me. Post board I had 7 pieces of hate (1x MD Nihil already) to attempt to stop Zombies eating my brains. Zombies did just that g2. Game 3 saw him use an early Chewer on a Mox to try to keep me off Tolarian mana (Tormods onboard). I slip in Time Vault and can win next turn with Tezzeret in hand. He Cabals missing but drops another Bazaar and digs out Chewer #2 to crush my chance at Tezzeret victory. Nice games Adam!

Jeff H. (FoB) mathematically elimanates me from any dream of a positive record after that, 2-0. Mental Missteps sit idle while he Mana Drains my Bob/Snapcaster etc. and he always has the FoW to trump my FoW in both games. Nice. I believe he probably ran the same list (or close) to Webster.

nice to see ryan, web, smmenen, fob and bc come out.  some real good players in this scene right now.  would love to hear more about bob-caster vs. snapcaster semi finals.  i've been playing around with a bob-snap cast thing myself, but with trygons and no red, and another version with quion dryad and 4 colors... i am hoping i will be able to make it to these or web will start hosting CF vintage at superstars in san jose again.

i love web's control package.  echoing truth for some reason is always fighting for spots in my lists.

i hate it when dredge wins anything.  just makes me add another sb card... apparently 6 cards is not enough hate.

another fun tourney although today the force (and a bit of math skills) were lacking for me.
I played a remora gush list similar to R Gonzalez's September LCV event except I packed main deck thoughsieze.
Rd1 I lost to Web 1-2
G1 he casts ancestral twice and lands jace
G2 I have tinker--> BSC with FoW backup
G3 he casts ancestral twice and lands Jace

Rd2 I smash the bye

Rd3 I get smashed by shops 0-2
At this point I have drawn BSC in three of my five games, sometimes the force (luck) isn't with you (that or I just can't play this game which is a possiblity)

Rd4 I play against Menendian and lose in 3
Game1 I get out T1 remora and draw a ton of cards and stop him from doing anything
Game 2 he mulls to 5 but has a T1 oath with orchard draw I kept 6 including drain and ancestral but can't find an answer to oath
Game 3 he T1's 14 goblins and I lose because I pay 2 life for a mental misstep on his vampiric (he was going for time walk I assume) instead of FoW and then lose from 3 life to my mana crypt roll with time vault on board and tinker in hand to replace crypt with key... oh well I've never been good at math... or thinking in certain positions.

Regardless, I'll be back for more next time.

oh yeah FYI Ocho's deck looks a lot like Jaime Canos deck from Ovino. If you read spanish you can find an extensive description of the deck linked from this site

In g1, I kept a hand soley because I had two Orchards in hand for the Oath mirror.  Had I known you were playing Remora I either wouldn't have kept that hand or would have taken a very different line of play with it.  My mistake for not scouting :p

In game 3, you had to play the way you did.  If you Force my Vamp, then I play the Lotus and any bomb in my deck unimpeded.  It just so happened that the bomb I played with ETW.   Yes, had you Misstepped the Vamp you would have won, but that doesn't mean it was the right play.   Forcing Vamp is clearly the wrong play in that situation.

I would like to know how David felt about not having Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, and Tinker in his deck.

I didn't like the fact that the deck couldn't cheat a win when it needed to take a more proactive role. For example, it's much tougher to win against Dredge with just incremental advantage.

Not to sound condesending, and now the proverbial "but", but what was the reasoning for not playing the accelerants?

A few reasons, actually:

1. There's only Jace and Gifts to ramp into, which makes Sol Ring, Mana Vault/Crypt pretty bad.
2. Jaime Cano has put up some pretty good results, so I wanted to see how the deck performed as is.
3. I didn't want to put much time into preparing for the tournament.

At the begining the deck had Sol Ring, but it didn't proven too good in a deck without Tinker and without ways to spend colorless mana, so I cut it for another land. Also, initially a friend of mine run The
deck with some changes:
-2 Vendillion
- gifts
-2 lands
+ tinker
+ BSC
+ TFK
+ Sol Ring
+ Mana Crypt

It resolves the problem of not win fast, but I didn't liked play these cards doing the deck less consistent.

This was an unbelievable tournament report.   Someone should have posted the link at the beginning.

Any tournament report that opens with an epigram from HP Lovecraft is awesome.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. In retrospect, I probably should have started a new thread to advertise more effectively, but it seems a little late for that at this point. Oh well.
