My local shop got in a Mox Ruby and is interested in holding a Vintage tournament near the Fort Wayne area. I know there are a lot of players from Ohio, some from Michigan and a Chicago crew so I wanted to know if you would be interested in traveling. Would be shooting for about 30 players, there isnt much of a local crew and there would be good prize support for the Top 8 (all top 8 prizes would be worth $50+). It would be a proxy event (10-15) so some local people would play, I believe $45 entry fee and all entry fee's will be put towards the prize support (if 30+ people show up we would also do events more regularly). Would like to schedule it when there isn't other tournaments running in the Midwest so everyone who wants to play can make it.

45$ Entry sounds a little steep, from personal experience (Not saying I wouldn't pay that much for an event, but mox events are generally ~30$, plus cost of travel).  Of course, this is assuming it is UL and not A/B.

At 30 players, 45$/head gets you 1,350$ in prize support.  I don't know what you had planned for the remaining prize structure, but if it is just for the mox + sweets, then it seems above par in terms of price.

I would be interested in coming from Columbus. I agree that $45 is a little steep, but it would be worth the trip if prizes are deep and the money's not just being eaten by the store.

If you're going to do this, I recommend scheduling AT LEAST TWO (2) MONTHS in advance so that people can plan. I would think many of the Team Serious members in Ohio and Michigan would be willing to come out for this, but a lot of us are working adults and some of us have wives and children to schedule around. Please don't drop this on us two weeks in advance and then complain if we can't show up.

If this is on a Saturday, it's likely there would be a car of 2 to 4 coming from Michigan.

If this was on a Saturday and I'm not working, there would probably be another car from Michigan.

Ya, I think Saturday would definitely be a better day. It's about a 3 hour drive from Columbus, so working the next morning would not be ideal. I also agree that $30 would be a much more reasonable entry fee. What would the rest of the prize support be? Cash, store cred, or duals/othercards?

I agree with what was said above. I would shoot for an entrance fee of $25-30 unless you're planning on giving out very good prize support, and give at least 2-3 months of heads up as to when tournament will be scheduled for ahead of time. I can probably round up 2-3 from Chicago and Wisconsin for this if it's on a Saturday.

Ok I will talk to the shop owner and see about a $30 entry fee (shouldnt be an issue). It will be on a Saturday with maybe a smaller tournament on Sunday if people plan on getting a hotel (for two chances to make it worth the drive). Also I will make sure to give everyone a good heads up (likely around 2 months). There isnt much of a local scene so we need all the people we can get from the surrounding area.
