I plan on being there. Vintage an hour away + Quaker Steak & Lube = No-brainer.

I would totally make the trip if there was a decent resturant to eat at. And I won't be able to give Mr. Griffiths a hard time about his performance . . . Doesn't seem worth it to me

The Lube is very overrated indeed.  I only go there because everyone else does.  The El Camino burger is good, but that's about all they've got going on.

I wouldnt have pegged you for a picky eater.  Although theres nothing spectacular there is a decent Italian place, a micro brewery as well as some chain restraunts.  The lube is one of the worst places to eat there... most of the dive bars have better wings than them.  And you shouldn't need to pick on Shawn as your favorite target usually comes to these events.

Pfft, can't make this one unfortunately. I have been enlisted to drive a bunch of people to a Kaijudo tournament in Kentucky this weekend. Sadly, you read that correctly.

Good luck to everybody but The Bomberman, Lance, and Mark Kinney. Thou shalt not speaketh badly about the Lube!

People need the poo-poo paper, Shawn.

Don't worry, Jon. At least you have a valid excuse. I had to read Glakin's post three times to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

Another thing that will make this event so cool is the fact that it will be one of the first Vintage tournaments around where not only Dragon's Maze is legal, but Regrowth is unrestricted. It will be interesting to see how people react to these changes!

Yeah, I imagine there won't be much innovation (but I'm hoping there will be). It being the first weekend, people too scared to try something different, and/or a lack of testing to feel confident in changing things. Still, it will be cool if we do end up seeing something new.

Only new cards I could imagine might some some fringe play just for playability sake would be
Far Away
Turn Burn
Zal
Notion Thief (SB)
Sin Collector (stupid fish decks)
and I would think that this would be a great event to play new cards at mostly because some vintage players just live under rocks and don't innovate. You can totally catch some people with Notion thief for about the first month and then after that I think it'll be useless

Innovation?  What's that?  I'll be playing the usual 75, just in case anyone didn't know.

I am dreaming that somehow, someway this godforsaken trip to Kentucky falls through and I'll be able to join you guys. Sadly, not even my bi-monthly car problems will stop it. They're renting a minivan.

After seeing this store, one out of just 24 in North America chosen to host one of these "premiere" Kaijudo tournaments mind you, I promise I will never make fun of Columbia Mall ever again.* Or consider Kaijudo a legitimate TCG.

But don't take my word for it...

Not only that, but the store has no website, no Facebook presence, and a Google search yields next to nothing about it. I could only get an address and phone number through WotC's event finder.

* I can't guarantee that. But I'll try really hard!

After the events that transpired a couple weeks ago, you really should put a Merfolk Assassin somewhere in your sideboard. Hell, if it were up to me, I'd allow you to have a 16-card sideboard, so long as that was the 16th card!

I also predict at least one player will celebrate the unrestriction of Regrowth by playing... one.

I've got some secret tech for merfolk, and it's not Merfolk Assassin.  No need to worry about that, unless the fish become a big metagame player though.
