Fourteen players came to game at the Hero Zone in Sandusky, Ohio. Special thanks go out to the car led by Kevin Cron that made the drive down from Michigan as well as to the three players who made the drive up from Columbus. We also had a couple of new players from Sandusky itself--a welcome addition from the local crowd!

Important details follow, and I expect to add videos and pictures later this week.

Vintage Achievements

Achievement prizes were won by:
Round 1 - Greg Price (MMA pack, donated by the Hero Zone)
Round 2 - Nat Moes ("Magic: the Gathering Official Encyclopedia")
Round 3 - Tony Rogers (Lizard Warrior playmat)
Round 4 - Jake Hilty ("Weatherlight Revealed" book)

In round 3, Nat got the highest total of achievements from the day with eight, since Mark Trogdon let him play out a Metalworker-Staff combo turn. In that turn, Nat cast a permanent that cost eight or more, had no lands in play after turn three, controlled three copies of the same non-land permanent, played spells of the same name four times, discarded down to his max hand size, and achieved a storm count of 10 before passing the turn. He also attacked for exactly one damage and traded creatures in combat that round.

Top 4

After four rounds of Swiss, the top four stood as follows:

#1 Kevin Cron (BUG Control) versus #4 Mark Trogdon (Workshop Aggro)

My deck wasn't well-positioned for the metagame, but it was good against the Shops players I faced (Charlie and Mark).  Without facing Dredge, this list is not appropriate.

Really fun event!

Yeah, no Dredge and no heavy combo element, a big change from the Columbus event and the Twaun Serious Open.

Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure the next of these events will be September 1, Labor Day Sunday.

Edit Edit: Here is the prize pool for the Vintage Achievements. I'm going to keep them in a box and take them to tournaments if anyone wants to add more.

I remember that Dove Men + Care, Aqua Impact causing quite the ruckus.

The tourney was a blast as always. I played fun.dec to a 2-2 finish and got to BS with a lot of friends I haven't seen for awhile. Good times and I can't wait to hit up the next one!

I also got some Videos of games. I'm still working on the technique. The camera I have has limited capacity and battery life. And it's surprisingly difficult to determine what games are going to be exciting. (I had a single-game, 30-minute video of Kevin Cron vs. Mark Trogdon where both players spent a lot of time in the tank. Eventually the camera ran out of room.) Anyway:

Kevin Cron, BUG Control vs. Charles Rolko, Grixis Control, G1 finals: http://t.co/aaIXZg0Tmu
Greg Price, Grixis Control vs. Juan Rodriguez, Tyrant Oath, G3 R2: http://t.co/4mhLoHrf1k (the match ended in a draw)
Eric Butler, Esper Control vs. Twaun P. Pwnertown, Twaun'sFavoriteCards.dec, G3 R1: http://t.co/WapOUNRsun
