I was talking with aahz yesterday about a potential format (or something) that would be a sort of casual form of Vintage.  It would consist of a larger than normal library, which both players would share (similar to Type 4).  My current design is that it would be a 100-card Vintage deck, and the players would just play by normal Vintage rules... but from the same deck.  The benefit would be that you get to enjoy Vintage games, but don't have to worry so much about deckbuilding and planning for various matchups, or even sideboarding.  It's just player vs. player.  I thought it might be good for random Vintage-esque fun, or possibly for introducing new players to the format.  Here is my potential first attempt build:

2 Island
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Polluted Delta
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Underground Sea
4 Volcanic Island
3 Tropical Island
2 City of Brass
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Library of Alexandria
= 30 lands

1 Black Lotus
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mana Vault
= 10 artifact mana

1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
4 Force of Will
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Time Walk
1 Tinker
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Mystical Tutor
3 Flusterstorm
2 Spell Snare
4 Mana Drain
1 Echoing Truth
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Ponder
1 Mind Twist
2 Mental Misstep
2 Fire/Ice
2 Lightning Bolt
2 Preordain
1 Ancient Grudge
=34 Sorcery/Instant

3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
1 Tezzeret the Seeker
= 4 Planeswalker

1 Time Vault
1 Voltaic Key
2 Sensei’s Divining Top
= 4 Artifact/Enchantment

4 Dark Confidant
4 Snapcaster Mage
4 Young Pyromancer
1 Vendillion Clique
1 Trinket Mage
3 Deathrite Shaman
1 Blightsteel Colossus
= 18 Creatures

If this works out I may also try to make a Shops deck, or a combo deck of some kind.

One important question that came up: Should the players each have their own graveyard, or should there be a shared graveyard?  My initial thought was individual graveyards, but I thought I would see what people think.

Thoughts on the format?  Thoughts on the list?

Just by looking at it, it seems that a major drawback of this format is that it only allows mirror matches. You end up playing the Shop mirror or the Blue mirror or the Workshop mirror. I think that's not unreasonable, but in some ways it is very limited, as you miss out on a lot of the interactions that make Vintage enjoyable. Another problem with a shared library is that it does strange things to the value of tutors. Casting the first tutor? That can get Ancestral (unless your opponent has already drawn it). The second tutor, unable to get Ancestral, becomes worse than the first. Ultimately, I think that the objective of being able to play Vintage without worrying about deckbuilding can be achieved through having a gauntlet of Vintage decks put together. Then, you can have players switch off when playing different decks. You can even introduce new players to the format by handing them a deck for a given matchup.

I also realized that Sensei's Divining Top, Brainstorm, etc. might be really unfun.  Having one person control the draws for the other person is terrible.
