http://www.comictown.net/locations/

If you need to car pool to Columbus, post your needs and we'll find someone whom you can travel with. I'll start a signup if necessary.

WHEN: Saturday, December 21, 2013 1:00 PM ET

The store opens at 11:30 AM. Registration starts at 12:30 PM. Registration will close and the tournament begins at 1:00 PM, sharp. To save time, consider typing or writing up your decklist ahead of time.

PROXIES: UNLIMITED PROXIES will be permitted.

There are THREE ways of making proxies:

1) The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it.
2) PREFERRED! The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics. See: http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=291560 for more details on how to do this.
3) the third is to print out all 75 cards, and slip the sheet of paper into each sleeve. If you do this, every card must be proxied.

As usual, we'll have Vintage Achievements and the fantastic Achievements Prize Pool!

We will be doing Vintage Achievements at this tournament! I will be bringing some extra prizes to hand out to people who earn points for meeting goals such as:

Givin’ him the business :: Win a game on your first turn
The Hard Way :: Cast a permanent that costs eight (8) or more
Old School :: Have all five original Moxen in play
Float like a Spirit Token, sting like a Welder! :: Attack for exactly one (1) damage
Is that all you’ve got?! :: Beat turn 1, resolved: Jace, Trinisphere, Oath or Tinker
Global Warming :: Control a Smokestack with three (3) or more soot counters
After you :: Deck your opponent with Ancestral Recall
Et tu, Bobby? :: Lose a game to a permanent you control
Cut Heard 'Round the World :: Cut your opponent's deck to a game-winning or game-losing topdeck

Let's do this!

That was an old SCG forum post that detailed how to make proxies. If you have specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them. I'll look for a newer version of the information in the meantime.

The basic premise was that you
1) Tape off an area of a card that you want to erase using painters tape. (So, take a Welding Jar and tape off the image.)
2) Use acetone (available at a hardware store; it's a stronger version of nail-polish remover) and a rag or paper towel to erase the area. It takes some scrubbing, but you won't have to soak through the card or take off extra layers. For the cardname, P/T, etc., you can use acetone on a Q-tip.
3) Draw in a representation of the card art or write the rules text and other information as appropriate.

If you do a really good job, you'll end up with something like this (with credit to ELD):

For this event, we won't overly scrutinize anyone's proxies without reason. As long as the relevant game text is there and readable, and as long as the card isn't done in some way that it's noticeably thicker or thinner or misshapen, you should be fine.

I've heard from a lot of people. I think this tournament's going to be a hit!

Also, we are going to be showing some holiday favorites during the event. Christmas movies like Die Hard, Ghostbusters and Gremlins.
