Comic Town in Columbus is hosting a guaranteed-prize Vintage tournament on Saturday, April 12. Comic Town will be providing the great space, amenities, and prizes they always do. Plus, post tournament meals at great places like the Thurman Cafe!

The details:

WHAT: VINTAGE! Tournament

Swiss + Top 8.

Entry is $20

PRIZES:

GUARANTEED $400 CASH!

1st Place: $160
2nd Place: $80
3rd Place: $40
4th Place: $40
5-8: $20

Prizes will increase if turnout allows!

WHERE: Comic Town!

They've been great about hosting and promoting Vintage in Ohio. Events are always a ton of fun.

COMICTOWN
1249 Morse Road  Columbus, OH 43229
(614) 262-5006

http://www.comictown.net/locations/

If you need to car pool to Columbus, post your needs and we'll find someone whom you can travel with. I'll start a signup if necessary.

WHEN: Saturday, April 12, 2014 1:00 PM ET

The store opens at 11:30 AM. Registration starts at 12:30 PM. Registration will close and the tournament begins at 1:00 PM, sharp. To save time, consider typing or writing up your decklist ahead of time.

PROXIES: UNLIMITED PROXIES will be permitted.

There are THREE ways of making proxies:

1) The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it.
2) PREFERRED! The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics. See: http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=291560 for more details on how to do this.
3) the third is to print out all 75 cards, and slip the sheet of paper into each sleeve. If you do this, every card must be proxied.

As usual, we'll have Vintage Achievements and the fantastic Achievements Prize Pool!

We will be doing Vintage Achievements at this tournament! I will be bringing some extra prizes to hand out to people who earn points for meeting goals such as:

Givin’ him the business :: Win a game on your first turn
The Hard Way :: Cast a permanent that costs eight (8) or more
Old School :: Have all five original Moxen in play
Float like a Spirit Token, sting like a Welder! :: Attack for exactly one (1) damage
Is that all you’ve got?! :: Beat turn 1, resolved: Jace, Trinisphere, Oath or Tinker
Global Warming :: Control a Smokestack with three (3) or more soot counters
After you :: Deck your opponent with Ancestral Recall
Et tu, Bobby? :: Lose a game to a permanent you control
Cut Heard 'Round the World :: Cut your opponent's deck to a game-winning or game-losing topdeck

Let's do this!

Well, I can't make the March day, but I'm planning for this one.  Also trying to get a friend or two involved.  It's an easy drive up from Cincinnati.  I played here about 2 years ago and it was awesome except for the mega-storm that rolled through Columbus around 5pm while I was sitting at Thurman's.

Because of recent tournament success, the guaranteed prize payout has increased!

More players also means more money!

There was a smallish turnout for this one of 13. Thanks to everyone who came out, especially those who traveled! Our attendance should go back to normal for the next events, especially as Cleveland starts showing up again.

I hope to get decklists this evening as long as they still exist.
