We will be running one event each month at Top Deck Games, and participating in these events will earn you points towards 1 and 2 round byes at the 2014 Winter Open (Top 4 overall points earners get 2 byes, and 5th-8th get 1 bye).  Additionally, the eight players who have earned the most points over the course of 2014 will be invited to compete in a single-elimination 8-man event at the Winter Open where the winner takes home $500 in Top Deck Games store credit.  How do you earn points?  Simple, you win matches.  Let's say you play in an event where you go 4-2 in the Swiss rounds, win in the Top 8, and lose in the Top 4.  You would earn 12 points for your Swiss performance (3 points per win, 1 point per draw, and 0 points per loss) and an additional 3 points for winning in the Top 8, for a total of 15 points!  Also, any events that Top Deck Games runs that is a "larger" event (the Summer Open, for example) will be a 2x multiplier!  Here's to more Vintage; I'm certainly looking forward to seeing everyone in 2014!

The Third Event!

   Date: Saturday, March 15th 2014
   Location: Top Deck Games!
Address: 55 Haddon Ave, Haddon Township, NJ 08108

   Registration: 11:00 AM
   Play Begins: 12:00 PM
   Format: Vintage
   Entry Fee: $25
   K-Value: 10-proxy unsanctioned
REL: Competitive, decklists required and penalized for errors

We all know that many Magic players have some time management issues.  To reward a random player who shows up early, at every Vintage event I run, if you register before 11:30, you will be entered into a drawing for a free booster pack!  Who doesn't like free stuff?!  Also, as always, we do allow late entries, but with a Round 1 loss.

   Prizes!
   1st: $400 Store Credit
   2nd: $200 Store Credit
   3rd: $100 Store Credit
   4th: $100 Store Credit
   5th-8th: $50 Store Credit

I'm not promising I'll be there because that seems to only jinx me, but I would love love love to make this event.

If I have sufficiently recovered, I will be there. It has been a bad five days.

I am tortured to miss this month's event, as I only had two punches left on my card until free Yogo Factory.  See you all in April!

I feel your pain.  I love coaching softball, but it eats up a lot of time in the spring/summer.  Of course, in five years when all my girls have moved on, I will be bored shitless and going to every Magic event within 200 miles.  :-p

Keith vanquished me in the finals. The first two games were very close and could have gone either way. Game 3 was awkward and he drew into his threat before I could find another answer for it. I might have gone too aggressive on the mana denial plan, but oh well.

Another fun event as always. A Top Deck Games tournament always reminds me of what a great Vintage community we have here in the NY/NJ/PA area.

Nick Coss also proved his love for me by not immediately disqualifying me for writing my deck list on a paper bag. Wink

Who won the booster pack for registering early? I could've used that as my sideboard, and it would've had the same effect.

Props to Keith and the rest of the T8! Will there be a report posted? I would love to see the lists/metagame.
