Joe beat Jim in a long three game slugfest.
Jeff trounced Adam by doing this G1:

and cutting him to mulligan to 3 (no bazaar) hand g2.

In the finals, Joe beat me up in two games in the finals in his first ever Vintage tournament. Congrats Joe!

So Eric's Hedron Crab deck had to face down my turn 1 Trinisphere deck. It's his first Vintage Tourney (Welcome to Vintage!). I wasn't really sure what his deck did, until G2 (hint: Fastbond, Zuron Orb, Crucible of Worlds plus Crab - He got me that game )


So I was prepared G1. Double Chalice for 1

Frankie's stuff got jacked a few weeks ago, but got to borrow cards to sling Vintage before deploying to S. Korea!

I sac'd 3 artifacts for - wait for it - TRINISPHERE.


Chalice for 1 apparently did Smennen in g3. Oh, and I topdeck a strip mine for his stupid basic mountain.


Sigh. Jim's shitty proxies vs PinkSleeve Dredge.


This G2. Yawgmoth's will played about 4 minutes later this same turn.


Think 2U is a great price for BSC? Try 0 mana!

I lost this game


G1 I have the turn 1 Trinisphere (Forced) and Turn 1 Lodestone Golem.  He had the Turn 1 mox ruby, island, Lightning Bolt.


Then black Lotus into Ancestral Recall into 2 Delver of Secrets (which both flip to Force of Will next turn. ). GG!


Michael Flipped BSC to Bob this game (or a different one). Ouch.


Goddamn Tangle Wires. Michael dies with Viashino Heretic in hand.

I thought we had 13, at least that's what Russ told me.

That G1 hand in the semifinals was INSANE! Not sure anything on my side could have beaten it. I'm still a little disappointed about mulling to oblivion game 2, but I know that few have any sympathy for us dredgers. I somehow knew intuitively that you had a Wasteland (TRUE!), so mulling to just Bazaar seemed sketchy, so I kept a double artifact removal 3 and just never drew anything.

My mini-report. Correct me if I get something wrong. I don't take notes. (just some pics )

R1 Luudes (Michael Lewis)
G1 He lets me play some stuff, but nothing much happens. He DT's for Time Vault and there is Key in play, I lose. EDIT: I do remember him playing that 3 mana boardwipe from Commander set to kill my Kuldatha Forgemaster.
G2 He gets Bob online, and get multiple Sphere effects online. He could deal with it, but flips BSC to Bob and his options get limited.
G3 Tangle Wire after Tangle Wire keeps him slowed down way to much. Eventually I draw threats.

R2 Eric Freytag (or something)
G1 He plays a Hermit Crab. I Play a Trinisphere. He mills himself a bunch, then me. Eventually I get some Factories online (and tangle wires) and he dies eventually
G2 I play some stuff (not knowing what he's up to.). He eventually gets ZURON ORB, FASTBOND, CRUCIBLE to combo with his HEDRON CRAB. Neat! I die
G3 I play fast Chalice for 1 followed by another Chalice for 1 followed by Chalice for 2. And Golems and stuff. GG

R3 Stephen Menendian
G1 he spell pierces my FIRST TURN STAFF OF NIN, then forces my 2nd turn Lodestone Golem (or sphere or something), then forces something, then steals my 2nd Staff with DAK FAYDEN (which I kill with staff) and Pyromancer and forces/ancestrals/etc. I lose.
G2 I get a Kuldotha Forgemaster into play. I slow roll some meh artifacts and wait. when time is right, I sack stuff for TRINISPHERE and it makes the rest of the game a little to hard. I get beaters online.
G3 I don't remember, but I do remember him casting Vendillion Clique to try and chumpblock a Golem, but I could sac stuff for STAFF of NIN to shoot it out of the sky before blockers.  Maybe this was game 2. Stephen I'm sure will clarify
G4 ID with Jim. We are the only 3-0, so ID gets us both in as top seeds. I'd play it out otherwise, but I'm fine with going first g1 in semifinals.

Semifinals: Adam
g1 I get awesome draw on the play. It's short. see pic.
G2 he mulls to 3, and my 2 land grafdigger cage factory/waste/thorn hand gets there.

Finals: Joe
G1 I keep a mox heavy hand with Thorn of Amethyst.
He calmly plays Pyromancers and stuff and I don't draw any business after that. (Don't I have like 25 dudes?)
G2 I get god hand, and he dispatches it (See pics above). Grrrr.

I had a blast! (1st, 90ish bucks, 2nd 70ish bucks, 3/4th 35ish bucks)
