I'm currently playing in the very first Vintage constructed event on Magic Online!
It's in name only at this point though. Vintage Masters packs aren't in the store yet and the prerelease drafts don't start until Friday - so nobody has power yet. But the 2-man and 8-man queues and the Vintage and Legacy constructed events are giving out VMA packs as prizes.
People must be cracking the packs because someone is already selling a Black Lotus for 250 in the classifieds.
Welcome to the future! The worldwide Vintage playerbase just got a whole lot bigger.

I'm waiting to see what the cost of power is. If all the power are ~40ish tickets each, I'll buy in. I may just buy $1,000 worth of packs and draft the fuck out of it, though.

I was surprised, in a good way, by the cost of the P9 so far. If Black Lotus are going from 250-300 on the first day with very, very limited supply that bodes well for next week after VMA is drafted like crazy. I'm not sure they will all reach the $40 range but I think you could get a set for 500-600 in a couple of weeks.

the draft format seems ridiculous, so I'll probably just do that.

We've got one guy over on Classic Quarter showing off a full set of Power Nine on day 2. And I saw a post here saying someone just did it as well (if it's not the same person). If it's doable and affordable before the packs are even in the store, it's going to be totally possible in a few months if not weeks. Now just don't look at the price of Wasteland...
VMA drafts start in about 12 hours! Can't wait!!!

Just posted up in the other thread as well, but I'm psyched to be playing online and happy to see some familiar faces there as well!

Other than expanded tourneys, can some one explain to me the appeal to dropping $1K on virtual P9? I own all the REAL cards and already test on MWS/Cockatrice. Why would someone double their investment for digital copies of something tangible that they already own when you get NOTHING tangible/owned for your investment???

Investments can be returned just as I did with my paper cards.
I moved from a hot spot in New England to a barren Atlanta wasteland of no Vintage.
And I can play Vintage tournaments this weekend (6 if they all fire) while drinking beer from the comfort of my leather chair.

I'll be there with ya! I couldn't make the the NYSE because I got sick. So hopefully the premier event will fire tonight. I would also expect the prices of power the fluctuate. More people opening packs all weekend will lead to lower prices during the weekend.

Played in a daily last night, including against MisterFoote who is a gentleman and a scholar. It's so great to be able to sit down on an evening and actually play Vintage.

How much do vintage events cost to play? Are there different priced events? I've never played magic online, so I have no idea how to even go about finding this information!

So I bit the bullet and dived in...$300 later and it looks like my account has been locked out of trading for unusually large purchases, which begs the question...
...do Wizards know how much farking money their cardboard jpegs cost?! FFS

That happened to me before and I complained and they restored my acct a day later. The biggest issue, for me, is the drafts where you play against people who are multi-accounting and run the time all the way down and makes the games completely un-fun. I've been looking to play other games online due to this. I don't think it's something they can "solve" and likely don't care but for sure I'm likely going to just be a collector of the old cards sooner than later.

Just got myself fully powered this morning, but still missing a bunch of staples to have any competitive decks put together (didn't really own any cards before Vintage Masters). Wasteland… plz reprint.

Wasteland… plz reprint. Hurkyl's Recall plz reprint. I'd love to be able to play Burning Long, but I'm not super keen on dropping $150 on a playset of Hurkyl's, of all things!

I'm an MTGO newbie, so it's super weird to open a Library of Alexandria, thinking "Oh sweet!", only to look the card up and see it's worth just a few tickets…

1k in, I have what I need by and large, save for a lotus. Good thing you don't really need the Lotus for angels (so I can grind for it!)
