It would be awesome if people streamed this..
I was thinking the same thing. As long as they use a delay, or cover their hand or something so they don't get stream sniped. A well known player like LSV streaming some Vintage would get some new eyeballs on it for sure.

A well known player like LSV streaming some Vintage would get some new eyeballs on it for sure. I will be streaming this with nothing more than the Twitch delay. If people want to ghost, that's their prerogative but I feel streaming is helpful to me as it puts my play out there and exposes my mistakes. It also is helpful to the community as it allows people to see what Vintage entails and it's not all about broken turn 1 wins - there is a lot of depth to the different match ups and a lot of thought that may not be obvious if someone just picks up a deck and starts jamming games.

...this is sound of me starting a slow clap...
in all seriousness, nicely done guys. my work schedule prevents me from participating currently - but I'm optimistic that this (and Beuhlers help?) could sway wotc to offer other more universally-friendly times.

That was fun. I'm happy we had 64 players, including a number of very powerful wizards. I finished up at 4-2 with BUG Remora Gush. 19th place puts me out of prize on tiebreakers, but it was a fun evening for sure.

@Chubby Rain, What is your twitch account? Do you store old streams there so people can watch them later?

We will definitely have to do this again sometime.
I'm not sure whether we should organize this on a weekly or a less frequent basis (like once a month?). Sunday was a huge success.
What do folks think?
It would be amazing to have weekly 50+ player Vintage tournaments with a global player base, but that may be too ambitious.

Went 5-1 and got into top 4 with Pyromancer Gush
Totally awesome turnout and fun! I could Probably join once a month or twice a month. A little earlier start time would be ideal.

People forgot -- there is no earlier start time.
Look at the premiere events calendar.

Dragzz: Thanks for an awesome top 4 match. Game three left me rubbing my head so much I feared I'd go bald. Such a struggle to pull that game out.
The finals was me vs jsiri84, who was running 5c humans. His deck had a strong start game one I couldn't keep up with, and my manabase imploded game two so he blew me out in short order. I was joking on IRC just before finals "wow, it's been a whole day and my manabase is still functioning!" Serves me right for calling out the gods of fate. Still, he played well and was gracious after the game. My record against the deck was something like 4-0 until today, so clearly he's doing something right.
I ran Control Slaver, with 4 maindeck Night's Whisper. It was manly.

I'd play regardless of the start time Before I forget - thanks Smmenen for sharing your pyromancer list! The deck I run was mostly based on your list, with a few tweaks here and there, the sideboard was photocopy of the list you run in NYSE, with a single card difference. Thanks for playing it out Kowal - I was going to concede but something in me kinda hope for a miracle! I haven't seen slaver played in a while, getting killed by mind control was awesome!

The finals was me vs jsiri84, who was running 5c humans. He was not running Humans. It was Esper Stoneblade. There are only like 4 Humans in that whole deck. I'm really glad this maxed out. I was not with it today, played terribly, and chose terribly on the deck to play. Once I got my head out of my ass, it was too late. But after seeing the event complete, I would really like to see more of these fire. Unfortunately, these seem to only do it when Menendian and I rally the forces and we can't do it every weekend! I'd like to see a Saturday event fire, personally.

I will check the event calender later, but is there not one on saturday at all? I feel like people can make adjustments earlier on the weekend a lot easier than sunday night! Either way I plan to be there for the next one, whenever it is.

They're the same time as it was on Sunday, for every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Until we made these pushes, they just never fired before.

It has been a great start to what will be the future of our format. It was great that we have accomplished the goal not only to fire the tournament but we filled the 64 seats available. So congratulations to the entire community.
I played from Europe, and our time was very bad, starting at 2:30AM , I managed to go to sleep very soon so that I could wake up before the tournament begins. Today I'll have a very looong day. Anyway, If I would have managed to get to the finals (In fact I stayed far away from it) I'd have had to concede because it was time to go to work.
In summary, If you want it to be global (if you want Europeans in) we can ask to wizards to change the Premier schedule or try to launch it on Friday or Saturday. For us the timing will be bad anyway but at least we would have a day to recover.
Regards,
|

Looked like a great tournament! Sad I had to drop at the last minute but I'm glad it filled up!
For those who are new to MTGO or don't really play MTGO, don't forget you can watch replays of every single match (especially good for watching all the top 8 matches). All you need is an MTGO account:
1. Click "Play" --> "Tournaments" --> "Scheduled Events"
2. Locate event #7283132, the premiere vintage event, and double click
3. Use the "select round" button to move between rounds
4. Double click the match you want to watch, then double click the game.
5. Hit the "play" button inside the game to get it started.

Yeah i lost to jsiri, he had some very good draws but overall the games were quite close. Was a shame to lose, but he was packing swords and path post board, those ate my deck up.
