On Saturday 25th October 2014, the eve of Vintage Champs loomed and Next Level Games, Dandenong once again held the annual Vintage MASTERS tournament.  Eternal MASTERS is an annual pilgrimage for many Australian players and has consistently been one of the largest eternal Magic events since LEGENDS held in 2010. Sporting Legacy, Vintage, and even Australian Highlander there is a full weekend and then some for those wanting to play in all our events.

Once again we had the largest Vintage event in the southern hemisphere, narrowly beating the record set by GP Melbourne earlier this year. A total of 45 players made their way out to sling some of Magic’s most iconic cards. Faces old and new were to be seen slinging some of the best cardboard crack Magic has to offer. With 27 different archetypes through the room there was always something fascinating to watch.

The biggest thank you goes to everybody who came out and supported us at Eternal MASTERS. Without you, there would be no Magic. It was an absolute pleasure seeing all of you make the trip from all over Australia to play Vintage. A huge thank you to Next Level Games for hosting this event and really making the weekend an absolute blast. I am sure that for the foreseeable future, this event will just keep getting bigger and better.

But at the end of the day there could only ever be one winner.

Congratulation to Luke McCandless who brought his signature “Go Hard or Go Home” Shops to the event and stomped his way through to the finals and defeated Melbourne’s newest store owner Andy Horne’s Bant Fish deck in two games.

If possible, it would be great to see the top 8 bracket, to see who played who.

Thanks for the deck lists, and congrats to all!

I had flights booked back in May / June when I talked to you about the date but my client decided that the same weekend would be a great weekend to roll out their new solution so I had to cancel them about a month ago. That solution ended up failing it's go/no go meeting on Wednesday so I could have bloodily well gone!

Still muttering about that one. Unlikely to be there next year either as I've been selected to race at for NZ at the Duathlon World Champs in Adelaide on the 14th-18th Oct so unless it happens to be exactly the weekend before or after I'm not jumping the ditch twice in a month.

I should be able to make it down next year. The timing for me this year was a bit off with a five week old baby.

It is good to see Luke take down an event with his list. I know that he has gotten close quite a few times.

Very few copies of Treasure Cruise in the top 8. There wasn't much storm at all. No oath decks made it into top 8 (after taking the event down last year). Interesting...

We have monthly Vintage events here in Melbourne. We usually have 8-15 players. These larger events only happen once a year +1 for each GP.
