Glad to see it's still on.  Was thinking of coming up there too.  Anyone know whether they still offer the free entry if tournament date is within 30 days of birthday?  Cheers.

I do not believe there are any birthday perks anymore.

It is good to be back.

Today, nine powerful wizards gathered to play Vintage at Myriad Games. I had not been to an even there for years, and I was very pleased to return. We played four rounds of Swiss for the event, with no cut to top eight.

I played a Grixis Pyromancer list. This is similar to the list that Randy used to win this past VSL mini-season. I also went 4-0 in a daily with a similar deck while streaming. The idea behind the deck is to use Young Pyromancer to pressure the opponent while using the amazing synergy between Pyromancer / Cabal Therapy / Gitaxian Probe.

I faced Workshop (winning both games despite losing the die roll); Hatebears; and two UWR Mentor decks. I went 4-0 in matches, 8-2 in games.

Congrats Rich - Thanks for posting the deck list and how you got on.  Interesting to see you ran with the Kolaghan's command over the Dack Faydan Randy was running in his build.  Clearly a lot synergy with Snapcaster and Pyromancer and the modern Grixis builds all play it. Is this meta dependant or do you think the command would still be preferred in a meta where you expect to face more shops and steel city vault? I would have thought against hate bears and mentor the command is preferred for the immediate impact.  When we played the grixis mirror on MTGO (my user name: pvanbeek) after the Vintage Daily didn't fire I was played two Dack over tutor and command.  Was tutor a win more or decisive in any of your games?

Great questions. Demonic Tutor was fine. The best card to find was Time Walk. If you are already running Black for Therapy then Demonic Tutor makes sense. But Demonic Tutor is not a reason to run Black.

As for Command, it was spectacular. It greatly exceeded my expectations. It was a two-for-one against Shops. Against Mentor, I could kill Mentor and rebut a Snapcaster.

I've been wanting to try Kolaghan's Command for a while, but I wasn't sure if it was good enough. If you liked it, I'd love to try it.

I love the deck, if I can cash a daily with it it HAS to be good!

Great job, Rich!  The deck looks extremely flexible and powerful.

While this deck is effective in the current metagame, I am very concerned about what it's validity says about the format right now. That you can play a deck without a fast combo and exactly one instant speed way to remove an artifact and zero ways to remove an enchantment is a bit concerning. That the deck can get away with so many sorcery speed cards in Cabal Therapy and Gitaxian Probe shows how little respect we have nowadays for Yawgmoth's Will, Tinker, or an early Oath of Druids. This deck's Oath plan really underscores a belief that the archetype has fallen off a cliff in the past six months/

I actually don't disagree with any of your points, Wappa. All control decks are metagame decks. This is no exception. If the format became full of Oaths, then I may need to re-think my deck choice.
