In what could easily be mistaken for an Onion story, Microsoft has unleashed the full fury of its lawyers on 17-year-old Canadian high-school student, Mike Rowe, demanding the handover of his Internet domain.

The domain? MikeRoweSoft.com. No, seriously.

I thought this was funny, so I decided to share.

Just think of the millions of hits they could be missing from people misspelling their name. That is assuming anyone using their software can actually get the internet to work...

To follow up on this....

the kid settled out of court. Microsoft agreed to help him find a new domain name. Also, anyone who goes to Mikerowosoft.com would be directed to whatever new domain name he and Microsoft find. All out of Microsoft's pocket.

Also, he and his family were invited to go join a tech fair or some other thing like that at MS headquarters, and he was given a buttload of free Microsoft merchandise and products (ie. Xbox + games, and undoubtedly more goodies).

Pretty sweet deal. Smooth save by the big boys.
