I wasn't a member of TMD during either of the first two You Make the Card periods. Does the TMD community as a whole try to cast their support behind a single idea? There's a whole mess of ideas in the TMD Card Creation forum. Perhaps when the next YMtC occurs, we could champion one of the cards from there. If/when decisions don't go our way, we could select a new card that meets the needed criteria.
For example, suppose we all decide we want one of TMD's blue cards to be the next YMtC. We'd all cast our vote for a blue card. If that failed, we'd take the colur that was selected and find a card of that colour that we like, so we can agree on something to vote for when the card type query comes around.
Does this sound like an interesting idea to anybody else?

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

There were a couple cards on the old card creation forum which seemed fair. If the TMD community as a whole voted, I think it would be enough of a force to affect some of the stages...
The biggest variable will be WotC selecting our recommendation for the rules text of the card...
Anyway, I am down to try something new here...

I don't know if it will all come together as we would want it. Sure we might be able to get the card we want to be choosen but you know that it will be nurfed in the end just like the first YMTC was. Of course it can't hurt to atleast try .

I looked through the list and I selected the cards I thought were the most interesting and flavourful. These are just my ideas, but it's someplace to start, at least. I excepted Green and Artifact. If YMTC2 was indicative, they want to generate some variety.
Black Pilfered Plans Amateur Assassin Phyrexian Archivest
Blue Patience Lucid Dreaming Naysay Pensive Merfolk Burial at Sea
Red Chaotic Guidance Blood Game Concealed Explosives Hobgoblin
White Sanctification Act of Retribution Martial Dragoon Itinerant Prophet
Gold Caustic Knowledge Imprecise Summoning
Land City of Rust Shanty Town Tainted Paradise Stone Temple

As much as I love my creation, I think Burial At Sea would totally make a mockery of the entire YMTC process. Moreover, it wouldn't work with their process: they make the card in stages, and submitting "sacrifice a creature: untap an island" wouldn't get voted for long enough to submit the name "Burial At Sea," because it just doesn't work without the name.
And actually, our forum has had its share of representation: the card I submitted (Inhibiting Orb, all nonmana activated abilities cost 1 more) made it to the top twenty-five for YMTC2, though it was cut for not being interesting enough. Also, I predicted Psychogenic Probe with my Soul Vault (whenever a player shuffles their library, you may have all plays gain 1 life or lose 1 life), which was funny because BDM (who first showed Probe to the world) boasted that "[no one] could have seen this coming!"

as i can recall is the new counter "last word" also inspirated from our CCF. Wizards is monitoring this site, let's face that. so any of the ideas we bring up here, will be seen by them. So why take the extra effort on giving them these cards. when they will search for cards, they will maybe see some other interresting stuff..

While Wizards may look at TMD's fantasy card set and use it as inspiration/template for new cards, pushing at card during YMTC would allow us to tell Wizards what card in particular we want them to accept, rather than just letting them pick from the cards we'd think would be cool.
Plus, since Wizards uses YMTC as the approved way for the community to contribute to the card creation process, there's no reason why we shouldn't, as members of the Magic community, add out input. I just think that it would be interesting if the entire TMD community were to collaborate, rather than have us all cast our votes separately.

as i can recall is the new counter "last word" also inspirated from our CCF. Actually, variants on that card have appeared in pretty much every card creation forum on the intarweb. The first one probably appeared back around tempest, since Scragnoth was the first real card that couldn't be countered. That, at least, is one card we can't take credit for.
